We're thrilled to announce a new partnership with Wilton Developments to deliver energy infrastructure for three strategic Industrial & Logistics developments in the North of England: LEEDS500, DoncasterNorth, and Dynamo Park. This collaboration will power approximately 5 million sq. ft. of industrial space, including MILLI+ at DoncasterNorth – one of the UK’s largest single-unit consents at 1.15 million sq. ft. Our work will include designing and constructing grid-connected electrical infrastructure, operated by SSE’s Optimal Power Networks (IDNO). We’re also exploring sustainable energy solutions to meet Wilton’s and occupiers’ decarbonisation goals. We’re proud to play a part in supporting the Northern Powerhouse and delivering resilient energy systems for a net-zero future. It’s been a busy year! Throughout 2024, we've been part of many milestones, from renewable energy projects to community initiatives. Have a look through some of our highlights.

We are very proud to announce that we have signed an MoU with Darlington Borough Council that sets out a joint vision for the development of a town-wide heat network. While the project is in the early stages of development, SSE’s current plans include constructing an Energy Centre containing large air source heat pumps (ASHPs) which will be located in Darlington Town Centre. Jody Pittaway, Heat Sector Director at SSE Energy Solutions, said, “The partnership we are announcing with Darlington Borough Council will support the Development process for the heat network by helping us engage with many of the potential low carbon heat off takers within Darlington Town Centre. This week, we kicked off an exciting series of STEM outreach sessions in alternative provision schools across Greater Manchester! 🌱⚡ SSE Energy Solutions explored the world of wind turbines with students at the Pendlebury Centre, Highfields College (Stockport), Trafford Alternative Education, and Manchester Secondary Pupil Referral Unit. These sessions, developed in partnership with Greater Manchester Combined Authority, are all about giving students hands-on insights into renewable energy technologies and sparking curiosity about a greener future.
