About us
Independent, family-owned St Austell Brewery has been brewing beer in Cornwall since 1851. Fast forward 170 years and while traditional brewing techniques remain, innovation, passion and craftsmanship continue to evolve. Most famous for our flagship beer, Tribute Pale Ale, our range of award-winning beers – also including Proper Job IPA and korev lager - are available in pubs and supermarkets nationwide. We're also the leading wholesale distributor of beers, ciders, minerals, wines, and spirits in the South West. We own over 160 pubs, inns, and hotels across the West Country – including managed houses and tenancies - in some of the region's most iconic locations.

With less than four weeks to go until this year's Celtic Beer Festival, we'd thought we'd give you a sneak peek at the live music line-up 👀 This annual event showcases a range of beers from across the South West and beyond, against a backdrop of fantastic live entertainment in the cellars of our Victorian brewery - all whilst raising money for the St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust. All profits from the event will be donated to our Charitable Trust, supporting communities, charities and individuals across the South West. To date, the Charitable Trust has raised more than £1,000,000 – and we’re determined to build on the success of its first 20 years, so that we can give back to our communities – from Land’s End to Bath. For those planning on joining us - please do! Tickets will be available on the door of the festival 🕺 ⏰ 11am- 11pm 📅 Saturday 30th November 📍 St Austell Brewery, PL25 4BY

We're delighted to share that Proper Job 0.5% IPA is now listed in 286 Morrisons stores across the country! 💙 We have been meticulously tweaking its recipe to create a low alcohol beer which celebrates Proper Job - our iconic IPA - complete with famous hop-filled flavour profile. Brewed with the same heartfelt craft, Proper Job 0.5% uses a special yeast to create a low-alcohol take on its bold original. The full-strength version of the beer is the best-selling bottled IPA in the off trade* and we are excited to see how Proper Job 0.5% performs in the no/low category. Ryan Crisp, Off Trade National Account Manager for St Austell Brewery, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Morrisons as the first supermarket to stock our debut low-alcohol beer. Proper Job 0.5% has been the overwhelming favourite against many of our competitors in extensive taste tests and we can’t wait for more customers to be able to purchase it readily in stores across the country.” Harry Ball, Morrisons Buying Manager for Craft Beer & Ale added: "We're excited to have Proper Job 0.5% hitting Morrisons shelves this October. This is an important market for us and one we know customers enjoy exploring new options in, so we're thrilled to be able to offer it in our stores." The new listing comes off the back of our exciting Proper Job re-brand in March 2024, which features a striking new typeface and more prominent colourways, leaning on the brand and elevating its credentials. Proper Job 0.5% will be launching in Morrisons at an introductory More Card price of £1.50 per 500ml bottle until the 31st December. #staustellbrewery #beernews #brewing #lowalcohol #lowabv

Last week, the highlight of the culinary calendar arrived with our annual Proper Chef 2024 competition. 👩🍳 🍽️ This thrilling week brought together some of the South West’s most promising and talented chefs from within our local pubs. The level of skill, craftsmanship, and creativity displayed in the kitchen was truly exceptional. 💪 Our panel of esteemed judges had the challenging task of selecting the top starter, main, and dessert from each region to advance to the final round. The selected chefs will cook for legendary chef, Pierre Koffman, who will ultimately determine the champion chef of 2024. Good luck to all our incredible chefs moving forward to the final and a huge well done to everyone who made it a terrific day in the brewery kitchen! ✨🔥 Looking at igniting your cheffing-career? Like the rest of the country the hospitality sector is on tenterhooks about the budget at the end of the month. It’s going to be a pivotal moment for the UK economy but particularly for our sector, with many holding on to the hope of some much-needed optimism and belief. Read Kevin Georgel's open letter ahead of the budget, support your local and the hospitality industry by backing the Long Live the Local campaign and writing to your local MP.
Like the rest of the country the hospitality sector is on tenterhooks about the budget at the end of the month. Our industry cannot bear more punitive Government imposed burdens and for many licensees, it would leave no alternative other than to close the doors for good. As we approach the UK budget announcement on October 30th, the hospitality sector, particularly pubs, stand at a critical juncture. This budget can either bolster the industry by providing the conditions and incentive for continued investment and innovation or jeopardize it. The beloved British pub is an institution we cannot afford to lose - and the Government can’t afford to do without pubs contributing significantly to the economy. Through this open letter, I'm urging the Government to support brewing and pubs and commit to the five-point plan it outlined in its pre-election manifesto.
