A big thank you to Tesco Wragby Road for generously donating their gingerbread houses to our Inpatient Unit 💛 They had a competition to decorate gingerbread houses which were then donated to our Nettleham Road Inpatient Unit on Christmas Eve. Thank you for your kindness this Christmas!

About us
St Barnabas supports more than 10,500 local people every year and delivers care to patients living with a life limiting or terminal illness and their families. Our ambition, for every patient we meet, is to enable them to live life to the fullest possible extent for however many days, weeks or months they have left. This year it will cost over £11.5m to deliver our services. The NHS does give us some money, but we still need to raise at least £5.5 million. There are so many ways you can get involved and help us achieve our ambition.

Bringing Christmas magic to our Inpatient Unit 🌟 Today Lincs Effect, an a cappella group formed from the Choral Scholars at Lincoln Cathedral, sang for our patients, their families, and the staff and volunteers at our Nettleham Road Inpatient Unit. The performance brought much joy at what can be a difficult time of year. Thank you Lincs Effect for taking the time to visit us and share your amazing voices 💙

Once again this Christmas, HOMELET (THE LETTING CENTRE) LTD has shown their incredible generosity! For several years now, they’ve donated Christmas gifts, bringing joy and smiles to our patients on Christmas Day 💛 This year, they’ve also gone above and beyond by collecting high-quality, pre-loved toys, which we’ve shared with our retail shops to help raise vital funds. On top of all that, Homelet sponsored the Torch Light Procession, took on several challenges, and have already pledged their support for 2025! Thank you, Homelet, for your ongoing kindness and support 💙

Christmas looks different for everyone… 💙 And it's okay if you're not feeling merry and bright. We’re thinking of anyone who is finding things a little harder, or isn't celebrating this year. If you’re struggling this Christmas, we encourage you to: 🌟 Acknowledge that the holidays will be different 🌟 Choose which traditions you want to follow, or make new ones in memory of your loved one 🌟 Be honest about what you feel up to doing and surround yourself with supportive people 🌟 Practice self-care - take walks, limit stress and give yourself time to breathe 🌟 Remember you are allowed moments of joy. Feeling happiness doesn’t mean you love or miss someone any less. If you need someone to talk to, our Bereavement Helpline (0300 303 1897) is open 11am - 3pm today, Friday 27th, Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st. You can also access support from Sue Ryder & Marie Curie UK. Let’s look after one another this season 💛

This year, we were incredibly lucky to be chosen by Grantham Dunelm as one of their charities for the Delivering Joy Christmas tree tags in-store. Generous shoppers purchased items from the tags for the charities and groups listed, and our Community Fundraiser Fiona, along with the staff at the Hospice in the Hospital, IPU, and Wellbeing Centres, created a wish list of items to benefit our patients and their loved ones 💙 We were absolutely overwhelmed when two vans full of gifts arrived at the Hospice in Grantham to be shared across our sites! A massive thank you to Hayley from Dunelm for inviting us to take part in the campaign and delivering the gifts, and to the amazing supporters in Grantham who went above and beyond to provide fantastic items. Your kindness means so much to our staff, patients, and their families 💛🎄

Boston's Festive Care for a Cuppa ☕🍰 Following the success of a Summer Care For a Cuppa event at Novak House Wellbeing Centre, Community Fundraiser Fiona decided to host another with a festive theme. We're pleased to share that the event raised an amazing £674! Community Fundraiser Fiona and her brilliant volunteers Angela and Fay held a raffle, a jigsaw sale, and had a delicious selection of cakes to offer. Attendees also enjoyed a super performance from The Rock Choir, who entertained them with Christmas music, and Christmas crafts from the Novak House Knit and Natter group. Fiona said 'It was wonderful to see the Wellbeing Centre so busy, with visitors coming from all over the area and even the Mayor popping in! Huge thanks to everyone that supported us on the day and came to visit. Look out for another one for Easter.'

More than 250 visitors attended Gelder Group's Halloween Walk over three nights in October, in support of St Barnabas Hospice and Gelder Group Charity. Their bravery was rewarded with a much-needed drink, hot dog or burger, but best of all the knowledge that they had help to raise a fantastic £4,000. Gelder Group CEO Steve Gelder welcomed our Head of Fundraising & Lottery, Caroline Swindin to the firm’s Sturton-by-Stow headquarters to receive a cheque and everyone’s good wishes, just in time for Christmas. Caroline said: "This incredible donation will make a huge difference to our community Hospice at Home teams providing care and support to patients and their families in their own homes throughout Lincolnshire, when they need it most."

Retail247 took on the incredible challenge of the London Royal Parks Walk (26 miles) in aid of St Barnabas Hospice 💛 The team, no strangers to walking challenges, hadn’t done one in two years and chose this route as most of them are based in London. Sadly, just before announcing the challenge, a colleague’s family member passed away. This family member was cared for at a hospice near Grantham, and their colleague shared how much relief and support the hospice team provided to both him and his father during such a difficult time. Inspired by this, the team decided to raise funds for St Barnabas. Thank you, Retail247, for your amazing effort and support! 💙
