Earlier this year we announced a merger between St Barnabas Hospices (comprising St Barnabas House and Chestnut Tree House) and Martlets. We’re pleased to be able to update that things are progressing well. In order to complete the merger, we’ve established a new group name: we'd like to introduce you to the Southern Hospice Group! You may have spotted that our page name and profile picture have been updated to reflect the change 👀 The individual hospices will keep their identities, so you’ll still be hearing about St Barnabas House, Chestnut Tree House and Martlets Hospice. Why not give them a follow on their individual pages for local updates?
About us
St Barnabas Hospices (soon to be known as Southern Hospice Group) based in West Sussex, provides specialist palliative and end of life care to adults and children with life-limiting conditions. Following a recent merger, we now operate across three hospice sites, St Barnabas House, Chestnut Tree House and Martlets, providing in-patient care as well as care within the local community which covers East and West Sussex and into South East Hampshire. St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, including in-patient care and community living well services. Our sister hospice, Chestnut Tree House, is the children’s hospice for East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire, providing specialist palliative care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. St Barnabas Hospices and Martlets Hospice are in the process of merging. Bringing our teams and resources together, as one organisation means we can focus on new and exciting visions and plans for our people and patients and provide even greater opportunities for our workforce.

Don't miss the documentary about the funding pressures facing the hospice sector which airs on ITV at 8:30pm tonight.
Tonight at 8.30pm, an important documentary on the hospice funding crisis airs on ITV1. We've been honoured to work with ITV Investigations Editor Daniel Hewitt and his team on this programme, to shine a spotlight on the huge funding pressures facing the hospice sector at the moment. They've filmed at Hospiscare in Exeter, St Giles Hospice in Lichfield, Acorns Children's Hospice in Birmingham and Zoe's Place Baby Hospice, Liverpool documenting the incredible care provided by children's and adults hospices, as well as the amazing support given by communities up and down the country. But hospices are under massive strain financially, largely because of shortfalls in government funding. ITV Tonight's examination of this issue could not be more timely, or more important. Please tune into ITV1 at 8.30pm this evening to watch this vital documentary. Watch the trailer: https://lnkd.in/eUw3zDj6
