2024 saw an exciting start to the Strategic Command STEM and Digital Skills Bursary for 16-18 year olds. The bursary supports: 💻 Talented young people pursuing digital and cyber careers in Defence 🇬🇧 The UK’s defence and national security capabilities in a technology driven world. Strategic sealift enables the movement of essential equipment and supplies across the globe on four roll-on roll-off shipping vessels.     🌍 Enabling operations  🇬🇧 Protecting UK jobs  🫡 Supporting our reservists  🤝 Cementing our role in NATO    The Defence Supply Chain Operations and Movements team, part of our Defence Support organisation, have awarded FORELAND SHIPPING LIMITED with a new 7-year contract to provide this critical capability to Defence, a capability that has supported operations across the world.    🇺🇦 As part of the UK’s support to Ukraine, the strategic sealift vessels have conducted over 30 sailings, moving more than 23,000 tonnes of equipment, including significant quantities of ammunition.    🇱🇻 The capability also supported the UK-led Joint Expeditionary Force - JEF Exercise JOINT PROTECTOR in Latvia, where the vessels supported both deployment and recovery of equipment, testing the ability to rapidly deploy forces in the Atlantic.     📲 Read more about sealift on: https://lnkd.in/eqW53WB4

💡 Enhancing operational readiness ⬆️ Upskilling our workforce 🤝 Partnering across Defence ⛽ Defence Support’s Operational Energy Authority recently hosted 7 Regiment The Royal Logistic Corps at the West Moors petroleum depot in Dorset for a three week joint petroleum operations exercise. This was to further their practical skills with operating bulk fuel equipment, ensuring their readiness in conducting petroleum supply and delivery during operations.     🇫🇰 A range of activities were undertaken - including bulk fuel being issued to the Ascension and Falkland Islands, preparation, and decanting of waste fuel. West Moors depot is a critical capability in managing Defence fuel operations and the team plan to carrying out similar initiatives with regular and reserve units across Defence with the aim of collaboration and skill sharing.

We have continued to make significant steps in the use of sustainable energy sources in Defence throughout 2024. The innovative initiatives below showcase our commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency - from our overseas bases to at home in the UK. 🚗 GeoPura’s trial of hydrogen-fuelled charging facilities successfully powered an electric fleet. 🔋British Forces Cyprus partnered with Beam Global to deploy rapidly installable electric vehicle charging solutions. 🛩️ We are using a blend of Sustainable Aviation Fuel for the first time in routine operations. 📲 Read more about these exciting developments: https://ow.ly/qGoq50Utfhe https://ow.ly/7ffv50Utfhc #YearInReview

The Joint Expeditionary Force - JEF is a coalition of ten nations - 🇩🇰🇪🇪🇫🇮🇮🇸🇱🇻🇱🇹🇳🇱🇳🇴🇸🇪🇬🇧. This year their Operational HQ, the Standing Joint Force Headquarters, based at Strategic Command in Northwood, has taken part in multinational exercises in Northern Europe.
