Vance and the Afterlife is a short film about a corporate stiff named Vance who dies and ends up in his own imagination… or lack thereof. Through an appeal process administered by his afterlife guide Sarah, Vance is given a second chance at life that’s focused less on superficial career goals and more on creative expression and appreciation for the world around him… Director Sam Kimbrell wrote this short film after reading an article about various people who had near-death experiences who all saw their own “afterlives”. We’re grateful that you are sharing this with us. 📅1 December, 12:30-14:30 📍Reel Cinema #Finalist24 #TBIFF24 #Narrative #Afterlife #ShortFilm

Film Festival for Inspiring Stories
About us
The Bay International Film Festival (TBIFF) is a new annual film festival with live cinema screenings and awards running in Morecambe, North West England. The festival includes 3 programmes: 1. "Reel Rewind": retrospective screenings of classics (this year - Kubrick's films); 2. "Northern StarS" & "Northern StarT": feature film screenings (either made by Northern Filmmakers or having Northern premiere); 3. "Stories Beyond Borders": international short film competition to select and award the best visually captivating and thought-provoking short films from around the world. By promoting international independent short films TBIFF is creating a cultural dialogue between the audiences of North West England and the world. We are especially interested in filmmakers that have an ambition of making a social impact, bringing awareness of old and new problems in the society and making an attempt to inspire audiences for thoughts and changes. In addition to general submissions, each year we will have a special topic category. The films covering the topic from this category can get a special award. The Topic of the 2023 edition is “The Impacts of War” in the way you understand it. The inaugural edition of the festival will happen in October 2023, starting from 3 weeks of a retrospective of films by Stanley Kubrick and climaxing with the 3-day festival closure with Film Forum, networking events, an Awards Ceremony, and 2 screenings of the best short films of this year in Reel cinema with 200 seats for our audiences. Our festival team is working hard to deliver an unforgettable festival experience for all our guests from around the world.

Guen Murroni is an Irish Italian writer and director and from her brilliant mind, we bring ‘Nice To Meet You All’. Guen’s ability to share human stories allows the audience to connect with her humour and infectious joy. “Nice To Meet You All” is a celebratory look at DID from the experience of a woman who has survived human trafficking in the US. It highlights the more surreal elements of this condition in a fresh light, dispelling myths around mental health. Guen says this: “I connected with ‘Bri’ who told me about her time spent in human trafficking rings and her day-to-day life dealing with her different personalities. We both believe that the media often portray mental health in a sensationalist, simplistic and reductive manner.” The film will be a part of our programme 30 November (Saturday) 15:00-17:00 at Reel Cinema Morecambe. Please come down and share your support. #Documentary #Fresh #DID #TBIFF24 #Finalist24 #MentalHealth
