Film Festival for Inspiring Stories
About us
The Bay International Film Festival (TBIFF) is a new annual film festival with live cinema screenings and awards running in Morecambe, North West England. The festival includes 3 programmes: 1. "Reel Rewind": retrospective screenings of classics (this year - Kubrick's films); 2. "Northern StarS" & "Northern StarT": feature film screenings (either made by Northern Filmmakers or having Northern premiere); 3. "Stories Beyond Borders": international short film competition to select and award the best visually captivating and thought-provoking short films from around the world. By promoting international independent short films TBIFF is creating a cultural dialogue between the audiences of North West England and the world. We are especially interested in filmmakers that have an ambition of making a social impact, bringing awareness of old and new problems in the society and making an attempt to inspire audiences for thoughts and changes. In addition to general submissions, each year we will have a special topic category. The films covering the topic from this category can get a special award. The Topic of the 2023 edition is “The Impacts of War” in the way you understand it. The inaugural edition of the festival will happen in October 2023, starting from 3 weeks of a retrospective of films by Stanley Kubrick and climaxing with the 3-day festival closure with Film Forum, networking events, an Awards Ceremony, and 2 screenings of the best short films of this year in Reel cinema with 200 seats for our audiences. Our festival team is working hard to deliver an unforgettable festival experience for all our guests from around the world.

Step into the haunting world of The Eyes of Marge, a gripping social horror that flips traditional stalker/slasher tropes and delves into a gritty exploration of male violence against women. This is the directorial debut of Lily Howkins, whose extensive background in acting and choreography brings a unique perspective to this bold and chilling narrative. Inspired by the tension of Joker and Taxi Driver but grounded in all-too-real social issues, this film pushes boundaries with its murky atmosphere, supernatural elements, and sharp social commentary. In a grimy, gritty world where the services put in place to protect us are no longer enough, a male social worker becomes subject to intrusive phone calls from an unknown woman. As this evolves into a haunting and his fear grows, the supernatural is used to reflect the very real fears felt by women in our own world every day. 📅30 November, 19:00-21:00 📍King’s Arms Morecambe #Finalist24 #TBIFF24 #Narrative #SocialHorror #Violence #FilmNoir #Supernatural #FilmDebut

Vance and the Afterlife is a short film about a corporate stiff named Vance who dies and ends up in his own imagination… or lack thereof. Through an appeal process administered by his afterlife guide Sarah, Vance is given a second chance at life that’s focused less on superficial career goals and more on creative expression and appreciation for the world around him… Director Sam Kimbrell wrote this short film after reading an article about various people who had near-death experiences who all saw their own “afterlives”. We’re grateful that you are sharing this with us. 📅1 December, 12:30-14:30 📍Reel Cinema #Finalist24 #TBIFF24 #Narrative #Afterlife #ShortFilm
