Whilst we will all wait for any official announcement and the detail (which may be some way off) the report in today’s The Times * is very encouraging on a UK-EU Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) and is testament to the hard work, dedication of many, including our clients ABTA and UKinbound. From engagement at ministerial, shadow ministerial, official and parliamentary levels we are proud to work with the leading tourism and travel trade bodies on this issue and what has been striking throughout our engagement both in the last parliament and in this is the level of political support from both sides of the Brexit divide and across the country. This is regularly backed up by opinion polling with recent polling commissioned by Best for Britain showing that only 15% of the UK do not support negotiating a UK-EU YMS. There remains a lot to do, but the report this morning is very positive and credit to ABTA and UKinbound for their work and leadership on this issue! If you would like to discuss this or any challenges that we can help you with, please do get in touch on hello@tendoconsulting.co.uk * article link in the comments! Some really great insight from Lindblom public relations public affairs and United Government Affairs as always. A fascinating article on how the Netherlands is battling political deadlock, economic constraints, an underprepared leader, and external pressures all of which are contributing to a state of turmoil. Yesterday, as part of our work for the Urban Mobility Partnership, Willy Morris attended a Department for Transport (DfT) roadshow event in Manchester in support of the Integrated National Transport Strategy (INTS). These roadshows offer a valuable opportunity for organisations and individuals to share their perspectives before the Government finalises its flagship transport strategy. Check out UMP’s post for key insights from the discussions in Manchester! If you want to learn more about the work we do in transport, get in touch with the team at hello@tendoconsulting.co.uk
Yesterday, on behalf of UMP, Willy Morris attended a Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom roadshow event in Manchester in support of the Integrated National Transport Strategy (INTS). It’s great to see such a proactive approach from the Department, especially given that INTS will shape the Government’s transport strategy for years to come. There was a real sense that DfT is listening to local and regional stakeholders and genuinely wants input from a variety of perspectives. The session was workshop-based, meaning every group had different discussions and takeaways—but it’s safe to say everyone walked away with new insights and perspectives. One key takeaway from our group was the importance of service reliability. Fair or not, one bad experience on public transport can leave a lasting impression, discouraging future use in a way that a negative experience in a private car might not. Ensuring reliable, dependable services is crucial for encouraging and sustaining modal shift. Another interesting discussion point was the role of large employers. Major institutions—such as NHS Trusts or airports—have both a significant need for a well-functioning transport system and are a powerful stakeholder in improving local transport. Their ability to advocate for services that align with employee needs—such as shift-based scheduling—could be an underutilised force in improving public transport provision at the local level. A big thanks to DfT for engaging with stakeholders in such an open and collaborative way—looking forward to seeing how these insights shape the final strategy!

At Tendo Consulting, we’re proud to run the Secretariat for the Urban Mobility Partnership (UMP), a coalition dedicated to advancing integrated, multi-modal transport policies. Yesterday, as part of UMP’s work, Willy Morris attended a Mobility Hubs workshop hosted by KPMG and England’s Economic Heartland (EEH), joined also by UMP member Enterprise Mobility. Be sure to read the post below for some insights into what they discussed at the workshop!
Yesterday, on behalf of UMP, Willy Morris attended a Mobility Hubs workshop hosted by KPMG alongside England's Economic Heartland (EEH). It was great to see UMP member Enterprise Mobility also in attendance. KPMG and EEH did a fantastic job bringing together a diverse range of perspectives—including local transport planners, mobility operators, land developers, and financial firms—all eager to share insights on how mobility hubs can scale and thrive across the EEH region. A big focus of the discussion was funding, finance, governance, and risk. Local authorities shared innovative ways they are generating revenue for mobility hubs—whether through parcel lockers, advertising, or retail rental space—highlighting the potential for sustainable funding models. On the governance side, a key takeaway was the need for a long-term mindset. While roads and highways receive consistent investment without question, mobility hubs are often treated as short-term projects. If we truly want to embed modal shift into society, we need to approach mobility hubs with the same level of commitment and longevity as other critical infrastructure. It’s safe to say everyone left with new insights, fresh ideas, and valuable connections. A big thank you to KPMG and EEH for hosting this important conversation! 🚏🚲🚉 #MobilityHubs #SustainableTransport #UrbanMobility #TransportInnovation (What's a Mobility Hub?
