A Hull-born Royal Air Force (RAF) engineer says a year flying with the Red Arrows has been the highlight of his military career. Sergeant Harry Kay has just completed a season as part of a handpicked group of ten technicians that travel with the world-renowned aerobatic team. Known as the Circus, these engineers and support staff are paired with a pilot and fly in the rear cockpit seat of the Red Arrows’ distinctive Hawk jets between big shows and events. #redarrows #RAF #engineer #technician #aerobatics https://lnkd.in/ez__Snjp

Lynette Leith MA, Vice Principal for Curriculum and Skills at Hull College, has been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in this year’s New Year’s Honours. The prestigious accolade has been awarded in recognition of Lynette’s exceptional contribution to the further education (FE) sector and her pivotal role in transforming the college’s fortunes in recent years. Under Lynette’s leadership and direction of the college’s curriculum and skills strategy, it secured a ‘Good’ rating from the most recent Ofsted enhanced skills inspection, in October 2023. Ofsted highlighted the college’s adult provision and personal development as ‘Outstanding’, while its skills and employer engagement were recognised as ‘Strong’ – a testament to Lynette’s focus on aligning the curriculum with the needs of learners and the regional economy. #NewYearsHonours #OBE #education #furthereducation #college https://lnkd.in/eWwXTnRA Debra Gray MBE Rob Lawson OBE Kirstie Cawley Matt Carrington Saskia Blacker

A healthcare recruitment agency set up by a woman after her son suffered two catastrophic brain injuries is celebrating outstanding growth. Care Connection Partners was established by managing director Deborah Stock in February 2021. After working in the healthcare arena since her grandmother became ill in 2008, Deborah was inspired to set up her own business after her son, Maxwell, now 18, suffered injuries in two separate accidents. Her mother, Tres, then suffered a serious stroke, which meant they both required care. Having witnessed first-hand how available care services should not be delivered, Deborah decided to set up her own company to ensure anyone unfortunate enough to find themselves in a similar position received the correct support. Initially based in Hull and the East Riding, with its head office on Hessle Road in Hull, Care Connection Partners now operates across the country and has three satellite offices in London, Leeds and County Durham. #healthcare #care #socialcare #health #recruitment https://bit.ly/49HlaLL

Rural broadband provider Quickline Communications Limited has taken a significant step in its commitment to nurturing regional talent by welcoming its first cohort of telecoms apprentices. The group of eight, aged from 18 through to mid-40s, come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wide range of experiences to their new roles. After an intensive induction and training programme, the apprentices are now gaining hands-on experience, shadowing qualified engineers in the field as they install full fibre broadband to rural homes and businesses across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. #apprentices #apprenticeships #talent #broadband #telecoms https://bit.ly/3ORoiep Sean Royce Kathryn Jeffery Gemma Bell
