National Metric Day is observed on October 10th each year, celebrating the benefits and importance of the metric system. It’s a day to recognize the ease, consistency, and precision of metric measurements, and to encourage the adoption of the metric system in countries that still use non-metric units. #NationalMetricDay #MetricSystem #MetricMeasurements #GoMetric #MetricConversion #MetricDay #MeasureWithMetric #MetricBenefits #PrecisionWithMetric #AdoptTheMetricSystem #CelebrateMetric #MetricForAll #MetricIsEasy

National Pluto Demoted Day, observed annually on August 24th, marks the anniversary of Pluto's reclassification from a planet to a "dwarf planet" by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 2006. This decision, based on new criteria for defining a planet, sparked significant debate and emotional reactions from both the scientific community and the public. Pluto, discovered in 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh, had long been considered the ninth planet in our solar system. National Pluto Demoted Day serves as a reminder of the dynamic nature of scientific understanding and the ever-evolving exploration of our universe. It is a day for astronomy enthusiasts to reflect on Pluto’s unique characteristics and its ongoing importance in the field of planetary science.

Há 22 minutos 🌕🌙 This week marks 55 years since astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong first walked on the Moon. 🌕🌙 On July 16, 1969, Aldrin, Armstrong, and Michael Collins launched aboard a Saturn V rocket. 🚀 Armstrong stepped onto the Moon's surface on July 20, 1969 (when National Moon Day is celebrated) saying, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," a moment broadcast to 650 million viewers. 🤩 Aldrin soon followed, describing the Moon as "magnificent desolation." 🌕 They spent 21 hours on the Moon, conducting experiments and collecting samples before returning to Earth on July 24, 1969. ⏱ 🗓 The mission lasted 8 days, 3 hours, 18 minutes, and 35 seconds. 📈The Moon landing in numbers: ☑️ About 400,000 people worked on the Apollo 11 mission ☑️ It cost Nasa around £25 billion ☑️ The mission blasted off on 16 July 1969 ☑️ It took four days, six hours and 45 minutes to get to the Moon ☑️ The lunar module landed on the Moon at 8:17pm on 20 July 1969 ☑️ A total of 12 people have walked on the Moon ☑️ The last people walked on the Moon in 1972 ☑️ The Moon is about 240,000 miles from Earth 👩🔬Women’s involved in the Apollo Moon landing! 🤩Instrumentation controller JoAnn Morgan was the only woman in Apollo 11 launch control at Cape Canaveral. Managing communications and systems for the Saturn V rocket. 🤩Mathematician Katherine Johnson was also part of Nasa and helped to calculate the trajectory for the 1969 Apollo 11. She was one of a group of female who worked at Nasa. 🌕A total of 12 people have walked on the Moon - Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Pete Conrad, Alan Bean, Alan Shepard, Edgar Mitchell, David Scott, James Irwin, John Young, Charles Duke, Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt. The last people walked on the Moon in 1972.🗓 Since then, lots of countries have landed probes on the Moon, but none with people aboard.🌕

🎉 On the third day of the Science Summer Camp, we completed our Ukuleles and had the opportunity to test our string telephones using a Virtual Oscilloscope for a visual representation of the signal waveform.🎼🎤 This allowed us to measure wave properties, such as amplitude and frequency. 🔈🔉🔊🎶 We also created a Sound Sandwich, producing beautiful music with sticks, straws, and rubber bands. Our final day was filled with dancing and music. 🥰💃 We hope our campers are practicing many songs on their Ukuleles and don't forget to tag us on social media to show their progress. 👏😍🎼 🎉The LAB22 wishes everyone an excellent summer holiday!🌞 📱The video is also available on our YouTube channel: 👉 https://lnkd.in/e_B9nC-m #TheLAB22 #SummerCamp #Construction #Architecture #BridgeBuilding #HandsOnLearning #STEMEducation #KidsInEngineering #Teamwork #ProblemSolving #CreativeLearning

🎉On the third and final day of the Science Summer Camp, the children delved into the fascinating world of cargo parachutes. 📦 They learned how these essential devices function, then rolled up their sleeves to create their own parachutes. ✂🧵 The day didn't stop there—adding to the excitement, they also constructed geodesic domes using jelly beans and toothpicks. 🍬 The highlight of the day was a friendly competition to determine who had designed the best parachute. 👏🏆 The camp's three days were packed with new experiences and daily challenges that sparked the children's imaginations. Our adventure began with a scenario where an earthquake hit Edinburgh, creating a new island. On the first day, the children built a bridge to this new island. On the second day, they assessed the best place to inhabit the island and constructed block towers to serve as homes. On the third day, another earthquake struck, breaking the bridge they had built. This led to the day's challenge—learning how to deliver supplies to the island using cargo parachutes. These days were filled with joy and creativity, and we hope this experience remains in their memories, inspiring our future scientists to expand their knowledge. 👨🔬👩🔬 🎉The LAB22 wishes everyone an excellent summer holiday! 🌞 📱The video is also available on our YouTube channel: 👉 https://lnkd.in/e_B9nC-m #TheLAB22 #SummerCamp #Construction #Architecture #BridgeBuilding #HandsOnLearning #STEMEducation #KidsInEngineering #Teamwork #ProblemSolving #CreativeLearning
