About us
The Lankellychase Foundation aims to bring about lasting change in the lives of people currently most disadvantaged in our society. Our Vision is of a society where everyone can live a rewarding life, where government and civic institutions respond with urgency and compassion to social harms, and where attitudes to those most disadvantaged are rooted in understanding and humanity. We focus on the way disdvantages cluster and accumulate, particularly homelessness, substance misuse, mental health issues, violence, abuse and chronic poverty. We do this by supporting pioneering people to grow the ideas, relationships and evidence that can help reshape the way we all approach social disadvantage.

“These revolting acts require those of us with positional power and privilege to redouble our commitment to anti-racist practice, to confronting our complicity and to embodying the solidarity that we offer.” Read more below from our CEO Julian Corner
The racist and Islamophobic violence that was used to terrorise communities this weekend is the most visible act of a white supremacist ideology that runs deep through our society. Yes, we are better than this and the many who have shown care, resistance and love in response have demonstrated this. But racism is so systemic in our culture, media, politics and governance, that attempts to distance ourselves from the horror with slogans such as ‘not in my name’ risk deepening the denial of how pervasive the violence already is. These revolting acts require those of us with positional power and privilege to redouble our commitment to anti-racist practice, to confronting our complicity and to embodying the solidarity that we offer. Condemnation is necessary but insufficient if we are to understand and tackle what has enabled this ugliness to surface.

“When I would feel overwhelmed by what was going on in the world, I would just say to myself: 'Hope is a discipline. ' We have been so busy across our youth work this week, providing places of HOPE. Proud of Mo & his team. “The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.” Over 100 youth supported through our co designed Summer programming, funded by @EsmeeFairbairn “liberation is no small task—it is appropriately daunting for miraculous beings. it is a gift, to be given such undeniable purpose, such immense odds. hold each other tight, and let’s do this work.” Thank you Mo for being such an exceptional & caring leader. Helen Bushell “I see fascism. I’m writing because I’m hoping the people who read it don’t need dollops of hope or good endings but are reading so that they’ll know what to fight, and fight even when the fight seems hopeless.” Lib Peck Gareth Plumb Ugo Ikokwu The Lankellychase Foundation

'What Move Movements' was an inquiry process with 8 UK social movements, and commissioned by The Lankellychase Foundation and accompanied by Recrear. Ultimately it was a journey about what it means to be vulnerable in philanthropy and movement building and the work we need to do to truly strengthen and heal movement-funder relationships. The publication tells this story and offers tools to navigate the power dynamics, the hyper-productivity culture and the struggle to be vulnerable through our difficult moments of change. Read this moving publication here: https://lnkd.in/evDpY6sq A big thank you to all the people/organisations who gave their time, energy and thoughtfulness to this process: Breathe UK, NEON, Tipping Point UK, Racial Justice Network, Rad HR, Tax Justice Network, War on Want, Imkaan, The Advocacy Academy, Healing Justice London (HJL) and the team at The Lankellychase Foundation And to the team from Recrear who carried this process: Carolina Neu Emilia Gonzalez Yasmine Zeid Quime Williams and Gioel Gioacchino (editing) And to Nathalí Cedeño for the beautiful design and illustration of the publication.

Last week, we were invited to Oxford by Marmalade Festival and Skoll Foundation World Forum to lead a session about participation in investment decisions alongside our friends The Curiosity Society. In top hats and sequins and with prizes at the ready, we delivered a “game show” experience exploring our audience members' appetite for risk - the same thing we did with Barking and Dagenham residents two years ago when they were building the investment policy for the UK's first community-led investment fund. We love sharing our work with funders and academics from around the world. Thanks again Marmalade!
