Do With: a call to action. The King's Fund.

Very big news! 23 national organisations are backing a call for radical change in the way public services work. Their joint Call to Action demands that the public sector moves urgently towards more democratic and humane practices. In short, that it stops doing things TO people, communities and frontline staff and instead starts doing WITH them. The ultimate goal is to inspire a loose grassroots movement called #DoWith to drive that radical and urgent change. This would be an alliance between those working in the public sector and those who engage regularly with the public sector, united by a shared vision of a fundamentally different way of working. The Call to Action quite rightly argues that doing with is not only more humane and democratic but is also the best way to unleash the creativity and innovation on the frontline and in our communities needed to reduce waiting times and relieve other pressures. Take a look at the Call to Action and, if you can, sign up to the online call on 26 March (link in the Call to Action) which aims to bring together those who want to mobilise for change. The Kings Fund is backing #DoWith and to help get it going, I’ve set up a LinkedIn group for anyone interested in discussing #DoWith ways of working, how to change the dominant ‘do to’ approach in the system and how to make the #DoWith movement fly.
