This months 'Meet the Team' is James McHardy, our Retail and Stock Manager. James joined us earlier this year, and has been a great addition to the team! 🥃 What do you like best about your job? Its been great to join such a great team! Having come from a non-whisky background it has been fascinating learning so much about the history of whisky and the industry as a whole. 🥃 What do you like to do in your free time? My partner and I go to the cinema a lot and for some reason we’ve registered for the John Muir Way run in March so have been running quite a lot lately. We also have two kittens to try keep entertained so they don’t do too much damage to the house! 🥃 What is your favourite whisky? So far, I find I’m enjoying sherried whiskies and after recently trying the 2015 Ballindalloch Single Cask Sherry I would say that’s probably my current dram of choice.

All of us here at SWE would like to congratulate our CEO, Susan Morrison for being recognised for this award. 👏 Well done Susan!!
One of Scottish tourism’s most accomplished leaders has been announced as the recipient of the 2024 Dr Jim Swan Award for Services to Scotch Whisky. Susan Morrison, CEO of the The Scotch Whisky Experience, will be applauded for her 36-year career in Scotch Whisky which started as a junior member of the venue’s launch team, while studying at Edinburgh University. Recognised for her passion and determination, Susan Morrison has led a team which has delivered the organisation’s mission to “make the world fall in love with Scotch whisky” over three decades. 🚽 It's #WorldToiletDay. 🚽 We are thrilled to have been highlighted in this video as an example of a great accessible toilet. We loved welcoming Mik and the Euan's Guide team to SWE. Check out the video below and make sure you order some #RedCordCards if you don't have them in your venue already.
It’s #WorldToiletDay and we’re so proud to have now made 150,000 accessible loos safer… but we need your help to continue our quest for safer accessible loos! 🚽 So, what can you actually do to help? As well as ordering and distributing more Red Cord Cards, you can leave a disabled access review of your local accessible toilet so people know what to expect when they get there. Our video explains more about what makes a good accessible loo review and head to buff.ly/2urTBTJ to share yours.

Today is #PurpleTuesday. 💜 An initiative dedicated to improving the disabled customer experience, 365 days a year. We have been striving towards being one of Scotland’s most accessible visitor attractions for many years. ♿ We cherish our partnerships with Euan's Guide and Deaf Action and the insights brought to us from our friend Paul Ralph from Partners in Access, and we are always looking to raise the bar! Pictured here are our front-line team of accessibility ambassadors, who through their day-to-day interactions with our visitors, are perfectly placed to help identify and recommend ongoing improvements and initiatives based on real-time customer feedback and insights. Learning is one of our company values. Training sessions are held throughout the year to recap our accessibility offering, keeping it front of mind, and also to allow us to introduce new initiatives and improvements to the whole team. Pictured are our visitor assistants learning how to use our EvacChair, and a sign language training session led by Sy from our guiding team.

We are proud to be a #LivingWage employer. First Minister John Swinney was welcomed by our CEO Susan Morrison, who sits on the steering group for Living Wage Scotland, along with representatives from Living Wage Scotland to meet our staff and experience our tour first-hand earlier today. Huge thanks to our Senior Visitor Assistants Alex, Matilda and Jackson for all of their input to this morning's visit. We are looking forward to seeing their interviews in coming days. Also pictured, SWE Directors, Jamie and Julie.
Thank you to First Minister John Swinney for his visit to real #LivingWage employer, The Scotch Whisky Experience as part of #LivingWageWeek. Living Wage employers like Scotch Whisky Experience are leading the way in helping to protect workers from in-work poverty. Their commitment allows workers to live a decent and dignified life while providing them with the security of knowing their wages will rise in line with the cost of living. Mr Swinney met with employees from the Scotch Whisky Experience who shared with him that being paid the real Living Wage makes them feel more valued by their employer and enables them to better support themselves with higher living costs. The Scottish Government has championed the real Living Wage since 2014 and has made it a legal requirement for organisations receiving grant funding to pay the rate to staff. We are delighted to have their support as we work together to achieve wage security for employees in Scotland. #Scotland #Leisure

We have had the pleasure of working with local designers, artists and manufactures to create and produce a number of exciting new ranges, that are as diverse as Scotch whisky itself! We are so delighted with the results, bringing colour, vibrancy and a sense of fun to the shop floor! A big thank you goes out to our wonderful suppliers – you have done us proud!
