With less than a week to go, it’s easy to get swept up in the holiday excitement! 🎄 But remember to keep your dog safe by watching out for these common Christmas hazards: ❌ Antifreeze & road salt – harmful if ingested. ❌ Poinsettias, holly & mistletoe – can be toxic if eaten. ❌ Potpourri – can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, or choking. ❌ Christmas lights & small decorations – choking and blockage hazards. ❌ Cooked bones – can splinter easily and cause internal injuries. ❌ Chocolate & nuts – toxic and can lead to serious health issues. ❌ Christmas pudding, mince pies & stollen – contain dried fruits like raisins, currants, and other toxic ingredients. 👉Share this with fellow dog owners to help protect their pups this holiday season! #Christmas #DogOwners #DogHealth #DogLovers #HolidayHazards

We’re proud to have supported this ground-breaking study showing that amazing dogs like Marlow, Jobi, and Kizzy can detect bladder cancer with their incredible super sniffs. A huge step forward for canine healthcare! 🐶💚
They've done it again... a newly published paper proves that dogs can detect cancer in other dogs. Marlow, Jobi and Kizzy were trained to detect the odour of bladder cancer in urine from other dogs. They correctly detected positive samples with with up to 90% accuracy and correctly ignored negative samples with up 95% of their super sniffing. Bladder cancer diagnosis is difficult and unpleasant for canine patients so there is great potential value in a new, early, cheap, rapid and non-invasive diagnostic test. https://lnkd.in/eE9j8q3k Davies Veterinary Specialists University of Bristol THE ROYAL VETERINARY COLLEGE The Kennel Club Royal Canin

Today, we honour the men, women, and animals who lost their lives in war and conflict. Last Friday, our CEO, Jannine, laid a wreath at the Animals in War Memorial on Park Lane, paying tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the countless animals who served alongside our forces. Their loyalty and courage will never be forgotten. #LestWeForget #AnimalsInWar #RemembranceDay

Remember, Remember: Your pup this November 🔔 As Halloween, Diwali, and Bonfire Night light up the sky, we would like to remind everyone that this season isn’t all celebration-it’s a stressful time for many animals. Our new statistics show an 81% increase in dogs reported missing during the fireworks season. We’re urging dog owners to be vigilant and calling on the Government to review fireworks legislation to protect pets. Our Top Tips for Protecting Your Dog This Season:🐶 - Create a cosy, safe space with your dog’s favourite toys. - Keep doors and windows shut, and curtains drawn. - Play calming music or ambient noise to help mask outdoor sounds. - Ensure your pet’s microchip details are up to date via Petlog for a swift reunion if needed. Visit The Kennel Club website here: https://lnkd.in/eN8EX4Kd for more tips and to support our push for better fireworks regulations. Stay safe and look out for your pets! 🐾✨ #BonfireNight #Fireworks #FireworkSafety #Legislation #Dogs

This Wednesday, we joined our fellow members of the Fireworks Working Group at the impactful Fireworks Drop-in Event at Portcullis House, sponsored by Dr Nick Hudson MP. This event was dedicated to addressing shared concerns over the dangers that fireworks pose to both animals and people, and advocating for a review of the current legislation. We were heartened to see strong cross-party backing, with many MPs signing our pledge board to demonstrate their commitment to this cause. As part of the Fireworks Working Group, we remain committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of dogs and all animals affected by fireworks. This event marks an important step in advocating for policy updates that better protect our pets and other animals during the firework season. #AnimalWelfare #FireworksAwareness #DogSafety #Advocacy Here are some highlights from the day! 📸

Every year almost half of Britain's dogs go through extreme fear and anxiety due to loud fireworks. As we approach a season filled with festivities, these sudden and unexpected bangs can cause health issues and trigger the fight or flight response. Here's our friendly reminder to our new government to take a moment to reflect on the current fireworks regulations. We've made it even easier by listing our recommendations Labour Party (UK) How can a nation of dog lover's help? Start a conversation with your local MP!
