Last night, representatives of MTC attended the Lloyds Banking Group dinner in Birmingham, to celebrate the great work of businesses, universities and charities in the region. Richard Parker and Charlie Nunn highlighted the vital role of our partnership with Lloyds, including MTC Training’s efforts to equip the next generation of engineers with skills for the future. Our collaboration goes beyond training - extending to SME support, driving innovation and progress across the UK. We look forward to continuing our work together. Shaping a stronger, more skilled future for the region. #WhereProgressHappens #OneMTC #Collaboration David Atkinson
One of the biggest blockers to growth is skills, and one of the biggest blockers for skills is the availability of good housing. Addressing this is important for those in need today, and in supporting strong communities and a skilled workforce for the future. Across the UK, regional and business leaders – including ourselves – are looking to increase provision of good quality, genuinely affordable homes. Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, has made this a priority with plans to deliver what he describes as the region’s largest social housing programme for generations. Last night at Birmingham's iconic Grand Hotel with some of Lloyds Banking Group key clients and partners, it was great to interview Richard about the region’s opportunities for innovation and growth, and to discuss the role of financial services in unlocking private capital for energy, housing and infrastructure investment. The West Midlands is a hub for advanced manufacturing, green technology and smart energy systems, and the success of these industries is key to the region’s resilience and growth. At Lloyds, we're proud to support the next generation of engineers through our partnership with the MTC - Manufacturing Technology Centre. Thank you to all those who joined us last night, together with our Chair, Robin Budenberg and our entire board. Brilliant to meet and hear from so many of the entrepreneurs and businesses we’re supporting to invest, scale and grow.
