UHY Ross Brooke was one of 27 local businesses who stepped up last week, donating essential items to help those in need. The Newbury Soup Kitchen received their first delivery on Friday, with more to follow this week. Meryl and her team work hard all year round to provide a hot meal for those that are homeless. For those sleeping rough, the festive season brings little change to their circumstances. While many of us are surrounded by warmth and family, they remain on the streets, cold, estranged, and struggling with the same battles they face the rest of the year. Sometimes they work in the office, sometimes from home, sometimes on-site. In the final session of the Future Frontiers career coaching programme at UHY Hacker Young, volunteers organised conversations for their students with professionals working in fields as broad as acting, electrical engineering, medicine, architecture and sport. The students were surprised to learn that work can be varied and has little in common with their current experience of school. On Wednesday, our London Wellbeing team organised a lunchtime NetWalking session to encourage movement, fresh air and a chance for our team to connect with colleagues.
