Connections News - DNO Applications The ENA has published the long promised changes to generation applications - generally raising the bar as to when an an application actually kicks off the grid offer process. All good stuff in our view that will ensures resources are focused on viable projects. The below is for generation projects over 1MW and comes into force on 1 Jan 2025 (with a new G99 form): - Heads of Terms including parties, land description, terms, use and any conditions - Site layout showing boundary, key infrastructure and POC with proper title bock, notes and legend - SLD with POC, generation equipment, protection, meters, cabling, earthing, switchgear, transformers and load details - Project timeline showing requested connection date and key milestones including planning (submission & approval), EIA, Equipment lead-times, Gate 2, Financial closure, construction (site start, construction, commissioning) - Full completion of the G99 form part 4 which includes generator module data UK Networks Services submit most of the above with our G99 applications already as it ensures the clock really does start when we submit, and it de-risks any timeline impacts down the line from assumptions made at the applications stage. #connetions #grid #generation #renewables https://lnkd.in/e5JPhved

Some high-quality panels going out for a 'timed' 11kV connection for a large bus depot. We design and supply the timed logic system for the DNO substation, the downstream tripping panels and the battery tripping units. We also offer constraint panels, grid control systems, NVD panels, G100 systems and anything smart grid related! A 'timed' connection is where we engineer the connection so it can draw lots of power overnight (6 MVA is this case) when the network is not heavily loaded but restrict demand to a lower limit during the day (1 MVA in this case). This is perfect for a bus depot which charges buses overnight. Our system constantly monitors the incoming HV supply and will step in if the site tries to pull too much load during the restricted times - first by issuing a warning (visual alarms, SCADA contacts, text/email), then by tripping the charging circuit breakers as a last resort. This means the wider site supplies are always protected and live, but the DNO had certainly that the supply cannot be overloaded and other customers affected. #smartgrid #engineering #manufacturing #protection #connections
