There's always something surreal about work seeping into personal moments. This weekend, as I settled in to watch "Moana" with family, I noticed something intriguing: the main character wasn't called Moana (apparently due to a trademark issue). Instead, she was called "Vaiana". Rather than just thinking, "That's odd" and moving on, my mind immediately jumped to how voxANN could detect these discrepancies between the original script and the localised audio. It's amazing how crucial localisation is!!

Helping UK early-stage businesses with investment opportunities 📈 Last week, Innovate UK partnered with the UK Business Angels Association for their annual summit in Manchester. With an incredible lineup of attendees and speakers, we celebrated the future of UK innovation and the critical role Angel Investors play, with highlights including showcasing Innovate UK ICURe spinouts and engaging panel discussions. Scott O'Brien delivered a keynote drawing on the evolving direction of Innovate UK products and Services. The discussions focused around: - An understanding of what has driven emergence of the north England’s innovation system, the roles that universities , the local authorities and private sector have played together to building this thriving ecosystem - The key role that angel investors play in supporting start-ups both in terms of early stage investment and expertise they provide - The critical role of joining up national and regional organisations in the ecosystem to support early stage businesses - A fantastic panel who brought to life the challenges of building a start-up when you just have an idea. - Diversity drivers increased economics and societal impact; and that we need more diverse founders and investors How can Innovate UK support you? Busy week for Team voxANN last week as we prepare for our Q1 launch. Thank you to Innovate UK who hosted us at the UK Business Angels Association conference in Manchester. We met some other great early stage businesses and were thrilled with the enthusiasm and support offered by attendees. The Northern Powerhouse in full effect. We closed out the week with a hackathon, bringing the team together to share knowledge and tackle some promising innovations with language technology. 10/10 productive. 10/10 good times.
