About us
Waymap provides the world’s only navigation app that guides you both indoors and outdoors. Our app is accurate up to 1m (and 10 degrees heading), with no external signals required. With our app on your phone, you can explore the city, catch your bus, or go right to the aisle you want at the store. Waymap is a high-technology business that was founded to address the navigation needs of visually impaired persons. Since then, however, we have expanded our vision to provide the world's most accurate and inclusive navigation app, driven by cutting-edge technology. Installed across a city’s transport network, streets and major buildings, our app gives step-by-step guidance as soon as you step out your door. It works anywhere we have a map.

'I never say that I lose my way. If anything, I am finding an alternative route'. 💛 This International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we are reflecting on some of the fantastic people we are lucky to meet through our work, who help us to increase our understanding, build public awareness, and drive innovative solutions for persons with disabilities. Here at Waymap, the principle of 'Nothing About Us Without Us' has long been at the core at what we do: that being, no decision should be made without the full and direct participation of members of the group(s) affected. We would love to draw your attention to one remarkable lady, Evelyn Valdez, who we met over in Washington DC. An avid traveller and adventure seeker, with a love of fashion and latin music, Evelyn epitomises the adventurous spirit. We were lucky to film a short documentary film, following Evelyn around DC, which she moved to after losing her vision at seventeen. You can find out more about her here: https://lnkd.in/eDXT6Htr #internationaldisabilityday #accessibility #inspiringpeople

"How do blind people get jobs?" The blind and partially sighted community are frequently asked questions loaded with misconceptions surrounding sight loss. Sometimes the questions can be inappropriate, hurtful or just plain daft! With #BeforeYouAsk, blind and partially sighted people banish misconceptions surrounding what it’s really like to live with sight loss in a fun and insightful way. Ask more questions with our video chat rnib.in/AskAQuestion [Transcript: Just like anyone else. It's usually based on skills and experience and talent. And with the right adjustments in place, whether that is, um, magnification software or voiceover settings or, um, navigational routes that have to be taken, it's totally capable of having a job.
