Like buses.....we are thrilled to celebrate yet another monumental 40 year milestone in the Weedon Architects family, this time for Alan Leaning. Alan’s career with Weedon Architects began on the same day as his partner in crime Owen Doherty, back in 1984, when he joined on a one-year youth training scheme. Alhough he was 15minutes late..., which he's never been allowed to forget...! From the very beginning, his keen understanding of construction principles and his ability to meet the profession's demands set him apart. His talent quickly became indispensable, leading to a full-time position that would evolve into a decades-long legacy. Alan’s influence on our team has been profound, consistently pushing the boundaries of technical solutions and delivering design details to the highest standards. His expertise, particularly in complex inner-city commercial and mixed-use developments, has been a guiding force in our most challenging projects. Alan, thank you for your dedication, passion and excellence over the past four decades. We are incredibly proud to have you as a key member of our team and look forward to many more years of success together. #40YearsOfExcellence #CongratulationsAlan #WeedonArchitects

We’re thrilled to see Hallfield School’s new classrooms taking shape with just over a month left until handover.   Weedon Architects has been collaborating with Hallfield School since 2015, delivering various refurbishment projects across the campus. This project, however, is our most notable yet. We extend our thanks to the School, Headmaster, Governors, and all key staff members at Hallfield for their support in bringing this innovative design forward.   Inspired by the School’s landscape, our design echoes the trees within the Quad and surrounding areas, enhancing the connection with nature. The elevated site inspired a tree house concept, which is reflected in the playful design, oversized picture windows that foster a dialogue between the interior and exterior, and the use of exposed engineered timber.   Our excitement in developing this design with Hallfield School has continued as we assist Tyto Contracting on-site to bring this vision to life. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the final stages of this incredible project! Weedon Architects is delighted to announce that The Regal, Highams Park, has gained planning approval.   The Weedon team and Mammoth have worked tirelessly over the last 5 years to ensure The Regal, a locally listed historical asset, can be brought back into life as a cinema. The cinema closed in 1971 and, over recent years, has fallen into disrepair. The Regal has been a key element of the Highams Park community and a focal point on the high street for many years. Mammoth Capital and ourselves fully understand the importance of The Regal in the Highams Park community. As part of our public consultation in November 2022, many residents shared family memories of the cinema and how they had all longed for the cinema to be reopened and restored rather than fall further into disrepair and ultimately be demolished. The scheme will see The Regal restored and refurbished with the assistance of a historical specialist. We have taken reference from the turquoise faience and have introduced this into our design, along with art deco hints picked up in the balustrades.    In addition to a cinema, The Regal will provide 33 high-quality 1 and 2-bed apartments, utilising parts of the existing building to ensure the original features can contribute to creating some unique apartments.

The truth is, children need a space to thrive and learn. At Hallfield School Edgbaston, we're creating a new classroom extension that provides an environment that nourishes little minds. We have seen great progress in the last month, thanks to our dedicated contractor Tyto Contracting and their brilliant team. The new space features a sawtooth roof, acoustic panelling and exposed glulam beams and we can’t wait to see the end result. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project! #construction #education #teamwork Client Hallfield School Architect Weedon Architects M&E HBa Consulting Engineers Ltd Structural/ Civil Link Engineering EA / QS  by The Construction Consultants (TCC)
