Traveloka actively sells and promotes elephant riding, breakfast with orangutans, swimming with dolphins, etc. - do any of these sound sustainable to you? Absolutely not - Traveloka and Caesar Indra are #greenwashing tourists and TNGlobal with this fluff PR. No company can talk about being a responsible or a sustainable company without and animal welfare policy that protects instead of exploits captive wild animals. Want to see animals on holiday? See them in the wild or at a genuine sanctuary. https://lnkd.in/gpZvxTVz

More good news to end the year. Dreamworld, one of Australia’s largest theme parks, has officially ended all direct human-tiger interactions. From tiger shows to koala cuddles, this move reflects a growing trend of consumers rejecting outdated and harmful wildlife attractions. The travel industry must adapt to meet the expectations of today’s conscious travellers. Those that fail to embrace cruelty-free, sustainable tourism will be left behind as the demand for ethical experiences continues to rise. Through 2025, World Animal Protection will continue to expose this cruelty, advocate for breeding bans, and shift public demand towards responsible wildlife tourism. Advocacy works – congratulations, World Animal Protection Australia! #Tourism #TravelIndustry

  • We look to the EU to set and maintain standards for global animal welfare. The EU-Mercosur agreement authorises poultry and beef imports with few animal welfare guarantees. Most of these imports will come from cruel and polluting factory farms which are destroying the habitats of wild animals. Going ahead with this current deal means the EU risks undermining its global leadership on animal welfare and significantly hiders our ability to solve the climate emergency 🗯 David Garrahy (he/him), External Affairs Manager Read more. • Today our Global CEO, Tricia Croasdell 特里西娅·克罗斯代尔 has written to the French Government regarding two captive orcas at Marineland Antibes. The marine park is set to close in January 2025, but we strongly oppose their potential transfer to Loro Parque in Spain, where they would face a life of confinement in concrete tanks and forced performances. Instead, we support the proposal for Wikie and Keijo to be moved to the Whale Sanctuary Project in Nova Scotia, Canada, the only sanctuary of its kind for orcas. This would allow them to live in a natural, enriched environment, free from the cruelty of captivity. With the support of the French government—and our global supporters—France can lead the way in prioritising animal welfare by ensuring these intelligent, complex animals are given a sanctuary that truly meets their needs. Join the call to urge France to make the compassionate choice and help secure a better future for Wikie and Keijo.

  • Global Director of External Engagement and Media, Kelly Dent, shared her final thoughts as COP29 Azerbaijan came to an end in Baku. Over the two weeks, delegates advocated for the urgent need to transform our global food systems. Despite over $300 billion in annual climate financing being reaffirmed during the conference, factory farming - a key driver of the climate crisis - remains critically overlooked. Industrial animal agriculture contributes 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions, driving deforestation, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation. Without addressing this, the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C target will be impossible to achieve. We used COP29 to highlight solutions: transitioning to plant-based diets, supporting agroecological farming, and investing in sustainable, humane food systems. The funding commitments made at COP29 are a step forward, but world leaders must prioritise addressing the climate impacts of animal agriculture. A just transition for farmers and workers is essential to ensure that climate goals protect livelihoods while safeguarding animals and the planet. Speaking at the COP29 China Pavilion, I shared a message close to my heart: amplifying women’s voices isn’t optional if we want to build truly sustainable food systems - it’s essential. Women are the unsung heroes of global food systems, contributing at every level - from farming and innovation to policy-making and community leadership. Yet, far too often, their perspectives and solutions are side-lined. I believe this must change. When women are empowered to lead, they bring unique insights, extraordinary resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of their families, communities, and ecosystems. By amplifying women in our strategies, we don’t just advance gender equity - we unlock transformative solutions for our food systems and our planet. The future of sustainable food systems isn’t just about technological innovation or policy reform. It’s about the people driving those efforts and ensuring women have the platform, resources, and recognition they deserve. Let’s commit to a future where every voice matters, and where the strength and ingenuity of women shape the sustainable world we all envision. #COP29 #SustainableFoodSystems #WomenInLeadership #EquityForSustainability

  • Denmark’s Wildlife Campaign Manager Stephanie Kruuse Klausen recently joined News & Co. to discuss Belgium's ban on dolphinariums and the urgent need to end captive dolphin entertainment. The panel agreed: TUI must stop profiting from this outdated and cruel industry. It's time for companies to align with modern ethics and prioritise animal welfare. #AnimalWelfare #CorporateResponsibility #SustainableTourism
