About us
Our vision is a world transformed, in which Circular Living is commonplace. Where the systems that provide our everyday goods contribute to the world's prosperity and sustainability instead of reducing it. We are a global environmental action NGO transforming our broken product and food systems. Our mission is to embed Circular Living — for the benefit of climate, nature and people. For over 20 years we’ve delivered programs that reduce CO2 and waste, restore nature and change people’s behaviour. We catalyse action from policy makers, businesses, NGOs — and in a world of mounting challenges, make Circular Living a beacon of change. Have you spotted any seasonal #sustainability surprises? Tag us if you notice any #CircularLiving progress this #Christmas. Less waste, more life. #FoodWaste #CircularEconomy #TextileWaste #PlasticPollution
About 4-5 months ago, I was having discussions about the recyclability of advent calendars. 🎅 Cardboard box ✔️ Plastic tray with aluminium foil stuck to it ❌️ The conversation then turned to 'if only they could take away to foil, but I guess the chocolate will go off'. Well, I had a pleasant surprise when my son opened up door number 1 yesterday. Seems like Marks and Spencer seem to have done it! 👏 Well done to them (and anyone else who has managed to do the same)! Great to see a great positive step, increasing the recyclability of a packaging format most of us will inevitably have in our homes. P.s. for those interested, I've gone for a bit of festive #reuse and using my Die Hard count down my wife got me last year (it is a Christmas movie and if you think otherwise, your mistaken). 70% of fresh water supplies are used by our #FoodSystems. Global demand for fresh water will exceed supply by 40% by 2030, according to the United Nations. Our #WaterRoadmap is a delivery framework to achieve the #CourtauldCommitment2030 target that 50% of the UK’s fresh food is sourced from areas with sustainable water management. With all major retailers now actively engaged, and eight collective action projects are in place, the reach and impact of the Roadmap have expanded significantly, driving meaningful progress toward sustainable water stewardship across the UK's food sector. Ready to put a Christmas twist on your recycling messaging? 🎄 🎅 🎁 Our #RecycleNow team have been busy creating new seasonal #RescueMeRecycle visuals to help remind everyone to #Recycle the most commonly binned recyclable items in the UK. The 5 festive characters are available to help local authorities and other partners to remind everyone how easy it is to recycle empty aerosols, yoghurt pots, perfume/aftershave bottles, trigger spray bottles and toilet roll tubes during the festive season. Recycling just one more item every day can make a big difference, especially at #Christmas, when we generate the most waste. Household #recycling will be simplified to fix the "muddled and confusing patchwork of approaches to bin collections". New guidance for local councils has been announced, according to The Times: https://lnkd.in/eAQE5tQv #CircularLiving means creating more intelligent resource use, examining sustainability challenges through the lens of people’s day-to-day lives and transforming the systems around them. We're working with Government to provide evidence, modelling and policy recommendations towards these improvements - to benefit the environment, businesses and society. "Today’s policy update from Government on Simpler Recycling brings welcome clarity for key stakeholders involved in waste and recycling services in England. Without a radical overhaul to how the UK deals with its waste and recycling, we stand no chance of achieving net zero targets or building a circular economy fit for the future." Claire Shrewsbury, Director of Insights and Innovation, WRAP Let us know what you think of these changes.

Does Christmas need to be bad for the environment, as well as our bank accounts? With Wales being #2 in the world for recycling, Angela Spiteri, our Senior Campaign Manager for Wales Recycles, shares her top tips for creating a festive Christmas while opting out of the overwhelming seasonal consumerism - and saving money.

It's that time of year again, when we start asking ourselves the annual questions - when should I put my Christmas tree up? How should I decorate it? And, more importantly, which type of tree is most sustainable? Good Housekeeping consider all the options, including how to recycle or reuse both real and artificial trees when the time comes: https://lnkd.in/e4XUHZwE Let us know which option you're going for this Christmas. #CircularLiving #RecycleNow #SustainableChristmas Hearst UK

As the UN Environment Programme Global Plastics Treaty negotiations continue in Busan, we've been busy advocating for the powerful combination of global alignment and national action - a proven force for unlocking systemic change. The Plastics Pact Network is leading the charge in delivering impactful national action. 🎤 At a high-profile WWF event attended by 300+ delegates, our Senior International Partnerships Manager, Andrea Cino Barreda, shared the stage with Brazil’s Environment Minister, highlighting the critical role of the Plastics Pacts in tackling plastic waste globally. 🌟 We co-hosted a packed side event with Ellen MacArthur Foundation, with speakers from six Plastics Pacts spanning five continents, including India, Kenya, the Pacific Islands, and the UK. The session was a huge success, showcasing inspiring local successes and reinforced the importance of global collaboration. It’s our final week of the Food matters: make it count campaign. Have you thought about using menu planning to reduce your food waste? Menu planning could help you: 👩🏻🍳 Use up all your food – 18% of food purchased across the sector is binned. 👨🏻🍳 Minimise preparation waste – using up all edible parts of food across different dishes. 👩🏻🍳 Focus on profitable dishes – saving food from the bin will help to cut costs. Take a look at the Menu planning guide that we created in partnership with Unilever foods for lots more guidance. You’ll find it on our resources page along with lots of other resources you can download and use. https://lnkd.in/e2Mhz38p --------------------------------------- Food matters: make it count campaign: https://lnkd.in/ertEWHPW Target-Measure-Act: https://lnkd.in/edM7NC5T #GuardiansOfGrub #FoodWasteReduction #FoodMatters #WRAP

Just landed: The Textiles2030 Annual Progress Report 2023 – 2024 Three years into our Textiles2030 voluntary agreement there’s plenty to be proud of – but also ongoing challenges to address. 👉 Over 140 organisations are on board, committed to ambitious, science-based 2030 targets. 👉 In 2023, a record number of improvement actions were implemented, from adopting less impactful fibres and using more recycled materials to piloting circular business models. These efforts are making a tangible difference to the per tonne carbon and water impacts of products. 👉 But the rise in production volumes continues to offset these gains. To meet our targets, the industry must move away from the current linear model, scale-up reuse and recycling infrastructure, and secure investment for circular business growth. Only with #CollaborativeAction through #Textiles2030 can we achieve #CircularLiving. https://bit.ly/3B4RRWG
