https://t.co/najUQQ2i0X High willingness-to-taste in UK children aged 4–7 years was driven by contextual facilitation, not intervention, in a randomized controlled trial of sensory food education. Nicholas Mansel Wilkinson Charlotte Evans Srimathi Kannan Hanish Ganguri 🫑Most children engaged readily in a Flavour School tasting activity at baseline 🍎at follow-up children engaged with the tasting activity even more readily (on average biting one more food sample), with no significant effect of the intervention. 🍐intra-individual tasting behavior in children is context-dependent 🍓 the context of sensory food education facilitates willingness to taste new foods 🥝 even usually fussy/reluctant children were often willing to have a go at tasting in the conducive context of an exploratory activity
Measuring your food waste is one of the most important actions you can take as part of your food waste prevention action plan. It helps you to learn how much you are wasting, where the waste is occurring and why it’s happening. You can then use this information to create simple solutions to tackle areas where you are wasting the most amount of food. Continuous measuring will then help you track progress against your target and monitor how well your solutions are helping to reduce your food waste. Guardians of Grub has a wide range of resources that can help you get up and running fairly quickly: 👩🏻🍳 7 day tracking sheet – use this to track your food waste on a weekly basis 👨🏻🍳 Food tracking calculator Enter your daily food waste data for a 4 week period and it’ll automatically calculate your totals for your reports. There is a handy guide on the Resources web page too to help you get the most out of this tool. Both trackers plus the guide are available on our Resources web page under the ‘Operations’ tab. Simply scroll to mid-way down the page. https://lnkd.in/ebdD6aFP #GuardiansOfGrub #FoodWasteReduction #FoodMatters #WRAP
At WRAP, we have been working hard to ensure tackling food waste is high on the agenda of COP29. Read the latest update below and other updates by following WRAP. Bringing circular living to life through measurable aciton. #FoodWastePrevention #WRAP #GuardiansOfGrub #CircularLiving
During COP29 Azerbaijan our priority was to make a case for nations around the world to incorporate food loss and waste targets in their nationally determined contributions (NDCs). We teamed up with The Global FoodBanking Network, FareShare UK and ReFED to deliver sessions in the Action on Food Hub, sharing best practice and learnings from national policies and action on food loss and waste from across the globe, discussing strategies to tackle methane and ways to build momentum. Yesterday, over 30 countries endorsed a declaration on reducing methane from organic waste, including the disposal of #FoodWaste with the Reducing Methane from Organic Waste Declaration. "It’s promising to see that nearly 50% of global methane emissions from organic waste are already accounted for by countries that have pledged their support. This progress highlights the growing recognition that addressing food loss and waste, and organic materials are essential to effective climate change mitigation efforts." Dr Richard Swannell FRSA, Director of Impact Growth, WRAP. Our work continues, as we need to convince all countries to commit to this declaration and update their NDCs accordingly, driving #CircularLiving and making landfill nothing more than a memory.
