Great to hear from our outstanding youth panel at our Winter Gathering last week, excellently chaired by YCF star, Alev 🌟 Thank you to Impact Hub London for supporting with your beautiful event space!
I don’t post often on LinkedIn, but I’m incredibly proud to be part of Young Camden Foundation, and to support the work of so many amazing organisations who work relentlessly to improve the lives of young people in the local community. At our recent End of Year Celebration, we premiered two short films created over the summer. One highlighted the impactful work of the HAF programme, while the other celebrated youth work in Camden, featuring a powerful spoken word performance by the talented and inspiring Aya Elgool. Please find them both on our Youtube channel here: https://lnkd.in/gkw8f4rD I also had the honour of hosting a youth panel with four outstanding young people: two current Young Ambassadors and two alumni. Now in its second year, our Young Ambassador programme—funded by the brilliant Landsec —supports Camden’s young people aged 16 to 21 through confidence-building workshops hosted by 2-3 degrees and corporate experiences. Each panellist spoke with passion and authenticity, sharing their own unique experiences and perspectives. They highlighted issues that matter most to young people in Camden, and emphasized the importance of truly listening to young people and their needs. To quote our panellist Aya: 'If you're going to say youth are at the heart of your organisation, make sure they actually are at the heart.'

We were so excited to finally share our new film with you: ‘An Ode to Youth Work.’ 📽️ This film was created as part of the Media Trust Film programme funded by John Lyon's Charity. The programme aims to amplify the voice of charities and raise awareness of their work. Our film celebrates the vital role of youth work in Camden. Featuring YCF members HvH ARTS, CASTLEHAVEN COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION, and Kentish Town City Farm, the film highlights the impact of youth provision across the London Borough of Camden. Set to a powerful spoken word piece by former YCF Young Ambassador and all-round star, Aya Elgool, this film is a tribute to the resilience, creativity, and community that youth work fosters. We have also been nominated for a Smiley Award! Please vote for us here: https://lnkd.in/g7bHbUnF Thank you to everyone involved including director Rob Ball and producer, Tolu Stedford 💫

Last week, we attended London Funders inspiring Autumn Conference! It centred around putting communities in the driving seat, to build wealth, power and leadership, paving the way for a better future. Our 3 key takeaways from the brilliant panel talks: ✨ Communities know best what communities need ✨ Mathu Jeyaloganathan discussed exciting social impact initiatives happening right here in Camden to redistribute wealth, build inclusive economies and reduce inequalities, such as Camden's visionary £30m Community Wealth Fund. ✨ The power of the collective ✨ Jane Elizabeth Dawe rightly highlighted that we can achieve more together, by harnessing the power of our collective voice. ✨ Putting people first ✨ Beatrice Animashaun discussed the importance of building trusted relationships with grantees, and reframing growth to mean more than scale, but deeper relationships and deeper impact. At YCF, we share London Funders mission, working in solidarity with the communities we support.

Last week, we hosted a 3-hour training on 'Understanding Autism' with Ambitious about Autism. We wanted to say a huge thank you to Justin Penney for delivering such an engaging, insightful, and informative session for youth workers and practitioners from the Young Camden Foundation network. The feedback was outstanding, with one participant sharing: "This was one of the best trainings I have attended. So engaging, so informative, and so much passion. I would highly recommend it to other professionals and individuals interested in learning more." If you are interested in coming to any of our trainings and events, you must first be a member.
