What is LENs? 🌾🌾🌾 Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs) bring together businesses, public bodies, NGOs, farmers and land enterprises, to finance and implement initiatives to improve the health, productivity and resilience of landscapes they all rely on. Typical needs that a LENs will address are resilient crop production, mitigating flood risk, improving water quality, reducing GHG emissions, or increased biodiversity. Collaboration is vital. A business acting alone will struggle to make an impact because what is needed in a particular geography will go beyond the boundaries of any one farm. Founded by sustainability consultancy 3Keel, LENs is now operational in three regions in the UK and one each in Italy, Hungary and Poland. Many more in this growing programme are currently in development. Why not head over to the website to find out more: https://lnkd.in/eTA_9Tcf

Improving the health, productivity and resilience of landscapes that businesses, communities & nature rely on to thrive.
About us
Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs) bring together businesses, public bodies, NGOs, farmers and land enterprises, to finance and implement initiatives to improve the health, productivity and resilience of landscapes they all rely on. LENs facilitate positive, long-term impacts on the local environment, with organisations working together to ensure their region thrives and continues to meet the needs of businesses, communities and nature. LENs negotiate and broker a five-step process: 1. Identify shared commercial land management needs, such as resilient crop production, mitigating flood risk, improving water quality, reducing GHG emissions, or increased biodiversity; 2. Businesses invest jointly in solutions, sharing the cost; 3. Landowners and farmers bid for the investment to implement the solutions; 4. Results are monitored, reported and verified by external experts; 5. Cycle repeats, building a trading community that connects economic activity, local communities, and the environment.

🌽 Coordinated investments in scaling regenerative European agriculture Early this month, we partnered with OP2B, FoodDrinkEurope, LENs Company Ltd, EARA | European Alliance for Regenerative Agriculture, and the Forum for the Future of Agriculture to co-host a virtual roundtable on increasing public-private collaboration in scaling up regenerative agriculture across Europe. Policy, industry, research, and the farming community talked about the policies needed to accelerate the shift toward regenerative farming, explored how public-private partnerships can mobilise essential funding to help farmers make this transition, and addressed the key challenge of measuring and reporting the sustainability outcomes of regenerative practices. Our key takeaways: 💶 Let’s start with making better use of already existing financing instruments to support farmers who might face a loss in profits and increased labour costs during the transition period. 👩🌾 We need to think about how to ‘stack’ public money and private financing to increase the support available to farmers. 🤝 Collaboration, innovation and a long-term vision for agriculture in the EU and globally are the key factors that can drive change in how we produce food. ℹ For more information on our work on agrifood, contact Melanie Muro at mmuro@ieep.eu. 📑 Our reading list: ✔ https://lnkd.in/esaAGcnV ✔ https://lnkd.in/eQjU37rE ✔ https://lnkd.in/dByB_QVp #RegenerativeAgriculture #SustainableFarming #FinanceForNature Photo by Kampus Production

🌍 It's fantastic to see this announcement from World Soil Day, highlighting the importance of regenerative agriculture practices in soil health. 🤝 We're delighted to be one of Nestlé Purina PetCare Europe's partners, working together to encourage and enable farmers to adopt regenerative agriculture practices. 📢 "It's great to see Purina boosting its regenerative agriculture partnerships across Europe," says LENs Principal Consultant Isabel Ross. 🔊 "The regenerative agriculture practices enabled by LENs help to promote soil health, increase soil carbon, boost biodiversity, mitigate flood risk and create habitats for pollinators – all positive outcomes that help businesses to source ingredients in the long term." This World Soil Day, we're recognising the importance of regenerative agriculture practices in soil health. Purina Europe is proud to work with organisations and farmers across Europe to implement regenerative agriculture practices 🌍 Over the past four years, we’ve partnered with incredible organisations such as Sols Vivants, in France and LENs in the UK, Italy, Hungary and Poland. These programmes are aimed at encouraging farmers to adopt regenerative agriculture practices such as diversified crop rotation, cover crops, and reduced tillage. These practices not only help to restore soil health and fertility, but also contribute to protecting water resources, enhancing biodiversity, and improving the livelihoods of farming communities. 🌱 This is a key step towards our commitment to source 20% of key ingredients from farmers adopting regenerative agricultural practices by 2025, with a target of 50% by 2030. 👉 Learn more about our regenerative agriculture projects and initiatives now. https://lnkd.in/eW9fq9Bf #Sustainability #GreenFuture #WorldSoilDay #PetFood

🌱 Today, we’re celebrating the silent hero beneath our feet: soil. 🌾 Healthy soil does more than grow food – it supports biodiversity, stores carbon and builds resilience against climate challenges. Meanwhile, regenerative agriculture takes a holistic approach, focusing on practices that rebuild soil organic matter, enhance biodiversity and restore ecosystems. 🐝 By working with nature, it creates resilient landscapes and secures a sustainable future for our planet and generations to come. 🌍 At Preferred by Nature, we’re proud to play a leading role in the Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs) project across Italy, Hungary and Poland. Founded by 3Keel, LENs systematically connects groups of buyers of nature-based solutions, such as regenerative farming methods, with groups of land managers who can deliver the work on the ground. The project works to ensure soil health and thriving landscapes. Giacomo Mencari

😍 Great to see Landscape Enterprise Networks featured in this fantastic guidebook from GFI Hive, alongside six other fascinating case studies. 🌊 The guidebook, 'Nature-based Models for Unlocking Private Investment into Water Quality and Availability', explores seven innovative revenue models designed to mobilise private capital into nature-based solutions (NbS) that improve water quality and availability. 🏞 "NbS interventions for water provide a compelling business case, due to their cost-effective, long-term impact and adaptability compared to traditional grey infrastructure," the guidebooks finds. 🌿 "NbS generally offer lower upfront costs, reduced long-term maintenance, and co-benefits such as enhanced biodiversity and improved relations with the communities in which they operate." 🌊 Guidebook on Nature-based Revenue Models for Freshwater Now that the dust has settled from #COP16 and the 'Finance COP' is in full swing, I’m excited to share a new resource from the GFI Hive's Revenues for Nature project. This Guidebook explores seven innovative revenue models designed to mobilise private capital into #NatureBasedSolutions that improve water quality and availability. 🌿 #NbS and #greeninfrastructure can not only enhance water systems, but also provide co-benefits for #climatechange, #adaptation, #biodiversity, and #floodrisk. By identifying and scaling revenue streams, we can mobilise both public and private resources to meet the goals of the #GlobalBiodiversityFramework. 💧 This is part one of our freshwater-focused guidebooks, with plans to expand with more revenue models, best practices, and lessons learned. I’d love to connect with others in this field to gather feedback and explore ways to improve and expand this guidebook to support the regeneration of freshwater resources. 🔗 Find the rest of the guidebook series here, focused on nature-based revenue models in the US, Colombia and England --> https://lnkd.in/ePd473H8 A huge thanks to everyone whose insights helped shape this work: Gena Gammie Mia Smith Justus Raepple Brooke Atwell Florence Mugi Ina Porras Wendy Engel Alejandro Calvache Tom Deane Bart Dryden Tom Curtis Donald Lunan And to the GFI International Nature team and our Revenues for Nature partners: Helen Avery Laurène Aubert Clodagh Douglas Phoebe Tucker Ryan Sarsfield Timothy Male Becca Madsen Aurélia Blin Gaurav Gupta Aurora Audino

🚀 Last week, 3Keel Principal Consultant Russell Ashfield attended the West of England Nature Partnership's annual conference in Bristol – to celebrate the launch of the West of England's Local Nature Recovery Strategy. 🌼 The first to be published in the country, there will be an eventual 48 Local Nature Recovery Strategies across England. 🗣 With over 200 partners and stakeholders from the region and beyond, the conference brought together speakers from national and regional government, finance, business and the charity sector to explore how to turn strategy for nature into action. 👏 There were inspiring speeches from all involved – in particular from Dan Norris of the West of England Combined Authority, Tony Juniper CBE of Natural England, Mary Creagh CBE MP and Kerry McCarthy - Labour MP for Bristol East. 😊 We were extremely pleased to see work from both 3Keel and LENs Company Ltd recognised as real-life examples of how to turn strategy into action for nature.
