🌐 Our Lloyd’s Agency network and Lloyd’s Claims team members - Quentin Byerley and Gemma Brett (Barnard), attended ‘The Lloyd's List Outlook Forum: 2025 and beyond’, an insightful event highlighting the opportunities and threats for the shipping industry in the coming year. 🗣️ With interesting talks from the industry’s leaders along with Lloyd’s List and Lloyd’s List Intelligence experts, it was great to hear about the challenges that are currently shaping maritime markets, such as the impact of security threats globally and the dark fleet, or security risk and sanctions. Couple of weeks ago, our team had the chance to participate in Lloyd’s Europe annual Maritime Dinner, organised by Iwan Röpcke - Lloyd’s Country Manager for Belgium and The Netherlands, where Julie Le Deaut gave a presentation on the M.V. Dali and Baltimore Bridge allision.   Earlier that day, we visited the local Agent, Interlloyd Averij, based in Rotterdam. A fantastic opportunity to meet with the team, share some memories of their time being part of the Lloyd’s Agency network, as well as some fun fact about the HMS Lutine and how they have been involved in the most recent operations to find the cargo lost at sea.   💡 Did you know?  Lloyd’s Agent Rotterdam is the first established Agent out of the UK, and they have been part of the network for over 206 years! #LloydsAgency #LloydsEurope #Lloyds

Last week we said farewell to our dear Kevin. Clarke, who decided to retire after 45 years within the Lloyd’s Salvage Arbitration Branch. On that occasion, we celebrated his incredible career with members from across the marine industry and thanked him for his amazing dedication, diligence and selflessness throughout the years. Kevin has been an important part of our team, being driven to change things and he really made a difference for the Lloyd’s Corporation and the whole market. ⚓ Join us on this Wednesday 11th of September for an introduction to the new Lloyd’s Open Form (LOF) default clause, in the Lloyd’s Old Library (09:30-10:45 BST). Lloyd’s Open Form (LOF) is an essential tool in ensuring safety at sea and minimising pollution risks. It is unique in that it is the only contract that ensures that in an emergency, the parties can proceed with speed to engage salvage services without the requirement to negotiate terms on the services to be provided: once it is signed, professional salvors are obliged to use their best endeavours to save lives and property and prevent/minimise pollution. Following a recent review of how best to preserve and promote the benefits of LOF, one of the issues considered was whether it is possible to provide within the insurance policy: ·   confirmation that LOF is the default contract to be used by Owners when a vessel is in danger, so that they can agree an emergency salvage response without delay and without any undue concern that they will have to try to justify this decision in retrospect to their insurer, and; ·   clarity around the process of Owners informing their insurers of the casualty as early as possible to ensure due consultation as to the appropriate choice of contract, when a vessel requires non-standard towage services.  The Lloyd's Market Association and International Chamber of Shipping have jointly drafted and consulted widely on a contractual provision that aims to provide the Master, the assured Owners and their insurers greater certainty when requiring salvage services. The outcome of this is the introduction of a new LOF default clause to be included in marine policies.
