#Uzbekistan: Asian Development Bank (ADB) Approves $250 Million Loan to Support Uzbekistan’s #Green, #Inclusive, and #Resilient Economic Growth. The Accelerating the Climate Transition Program will support the Government of Uzbekistan in three reform areas: - strengthening institutions and public financial management; - enhancing #climate resilience in #water and #land resources management, #agriculture, and #socialprotection systems; and - accelerating transition to a #lowcarbon economy in sectors such as #transport and #energy. “The program prioritizes decarbonization of the economy and resilience to disasters and climate change while supporting vulnerable populations,” said ADB Director General for Central and West Asia Eugenue Zhukov. “Uzbekistan is among the most energy-intensive economies globally, so the program will support the government’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per unit of gross domestic product by 35% by 2030. ACWA Power to Build 2,000 MWh #Electricity #Storage Systems with $1.1 Billion Project Cost in #Uzbekistan - an Agreement was Signed at #COP29. At the COP-29 conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and ACWA Power (of #SaudiArabia) on the implementation of a project to build 2,000-MWh electric power storage systems throughout the country. The project will conduct studies of the energy system throughout the country and, based on the results, select regions where electric power storage systems will be gradually implemented. Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Ipak Yuli Bank Have Signed a UZS 625 Billion loan (~$50 Million) to Enhance Access to Financing for Urban Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (#MSMEs) in #Uzbekistan. A majority of loan proceeds will be allocated to support #financialinclusion for MSMEs, 60% outside the capital of Tashkent. Currently, the share of renewable energy sources in total generation already reaches 10%, by the end of the year we will increase it to 15%. About 2.5-3.5 GW of renewable energy sources will be introduced annually.. If now, by the end of this year, our #thermalpower plant capacity will be more than 14 GW, then by the end of 2030 we will increase their capacity to 18.5 GW. We are balanced taking into account the development of all energy sources. There are more than 300 days of sun, there is a good wind flow - it would be a sin not to use it... The rep office's purpose is to "study the country's #financialmarket and establish cooperation with government agencies and commercial #banks". In January, Uzbekistan's President Mirziyoyev met with Chairman of the Eximbank of China Wu Fulin. They then discussed the Chinese bank's plans to open a regional office in Tashkent.
