International Workshop on Nasal Alveolar Molding (NAM-Tapping) Aiming to enhance knowledge and update techniques in the treatment of cleft lip and palate, the Training and Direction Center of Ho Chi Minh City Central Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology, in collaboration with Operation Smile Vietnam, is organizing the "International Training Program on Nasal Alveolar Molding (NAM-Tapping) in the Treatment of Cleft Lip and Palate." The program spans three days and includes basic theoretical content, updated treatment perspectives, and in-depth practical training on real models. It is taking place in National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology in Ho Chi Minh City. This program promises to provide doctors with the latest knowledge on treating cleft lip and palate using the Nasal Alveolar Molding (NAM-Tapping) method, delivered by international experts.

116 NEW SMILES TO PLEIKU, GIA LAI PROVINCE From September 23 to 26, our surgical program took place in Gia Lai province, where we screened 225 patients and provided life-changing surgeries to 116 of them. ASIA Nurse Leadership Training in Delhi, India From 23rd to 25th September 2024, Operation Smile India partnered with Johnson & Johnson for the ASIA Nurse Leadership Training. The objectives of this program are: 1. To train nurses from regional hubs/spokes, enhancing their cleft care competency. 2. To provide leadership skills, empowering nurses to lead newly forming surgical teams. 3. To equip nurses from prioritized hubs/spokes with the ability to train others, creating a "founder effect" by passing on the knowledge and skills gained. Over the 3-day event, nurses from 6 countries will participate, including representatives from partnered hospitals of Operation Smile Vietnam: Vietnam Cuba Hospital, 108 Military Central Hospital, Hue Dental Hospital, University Medical Center HCMC, HCMC National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology, My Thien Hospital. This training empowers nurses to become valuable leaders in cleft care across Asia! We're excited to see the positive impact they'll make!

74 FREE SURGERIES AT THE NATIONAL HOSPITAL OF ODONTO-STOMATOLOGY, HO CHI MINH CITY! This past August, Operation Smile’s surgical program at the National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology (NHOS) in Ho Chi Minh City screened 129 patients and delivered 74 surgeries for children born with facial deformities. These surgeries were a special gift from Mitsubishi Motors Việt Nam, bringing new smiles and fresh beginnings to the patients and their families. Witnessing these transformations has brought immense joy to the Operation Smile Vietnam team and has further fueled our commitment to continue changing the lives of children across Vietnam. DENTAL MISSION TO HUE 8/2024 We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our dental mission in Nam Dong Commune, Hue. Despite the challenging weather, including drizzling rain and sudden temperature changes, our team remained dedicated to providing dental care to the local community. During this mission, 1,428 students from five primary schools in Nam Dong town, Thua Thien Hue province, received oral care training, screenings, and treatment. This mission's success would not have been possible without the invaluable support of the local government, Hue Odonto-Stomatology Hospital, Nu Cuoi Viet Dental Clinic, Hanoi Medical University, and our generous in-kind partners, Nha Khoa Nụ Cười Việt and HD Dental, along with our dedicated non-medical volunteers. 66 NEW SMILES IN THE SURGICAL PROGRAM IN HUE From August 17 to 21, 2024, with the support of Sika Vietnam, the surgical program in Hue city was successfully conducted, with 118 children receiving comprehensive examinations, 66 of whom underwent surgery, including 5 cases referred to Hanoi for specialized treatment. Like previous programs, Sika sent many staff members to participate as non-medical volunteers, assisting on the screening day and the first day of surgery. This support is particularly meaningful, contributing to the success of the program, providing significant encouragement to the medical team, patients, and their families. COOLMATE @ISLC 2024 From July 22 to 28, Operation Smile Student Programs hosted our 32nd annual International Student Leadership Conference (ISLC) in Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. More than 40 Vietnamese students attended ISLC with more than 300 participants from 27 other countries. are equipped with tools and resources that will help them become even better advocates for patients born with cleft conditions. Besides, they had chances to promote Vietnamese culture and presented extraordinary 35 year journey of Operation Smile Vietnam. We are honored to received generous support from our strategic partner Coolmate, who gave us 400 hats and 400 gaiters. All their products were loved by organizers and participants of the event. The Operation Smile Vietnam office in Ho Chi Minh City had the honor of hosting representatives from MM Mega Market Vietnam (MMVN) and their partners, including Bel Vietnam Co., Ltd., DaeSang Vietnam Co., Ltd., Number One Manufacturing Trading Service Co., Ltd., and Duy Tan Plastic Manufacturing Joint Stock Company. The companies have supported 14 cleft surgeries to children through the Operation Smile program. During the meeting, there were touching moments and expressions of joy from the partners as they came together to provide life-changing surgeries for children born with facial deformities. This is the first year MM Mega Market and its partners have joined the smile journey with Operation Smile. The "For a Beautiful Smile" project by three students Duy Hung, Nha Khue, and Tan Thanh has successfully concluded, bringing smiles to six children with facial defects. With the idea of making and selling breakfast combos including sticky rice and juice, the past months have been a time of perseverance and spreading the spirit of sharing and helping those in difficult circumstances, both for the students and the community. The Operation Smile Vietnam office was honored to welcome the students and their parents to visit and bring smiles to the children. From the Field: Surgical Program in Hanoi, July 2024 From July 8-12, 2024, the surgical program at E Hospital, supported by SSI, Maple Bear, Adopt, and One Mount, screened 115 patients, with 100 eligible for surgery. Patients primarily came from Ha Tinh, Tuyen Quang, and other northern provinces. We extend our gratitude to E Hospital's medical team and staff, the Provincial Fund for Children, our volunteers, and the families for their trust and cooperation.
