In the world of streetwear, Cactus Plant Flea Market is one of the more… creative brands. From Blazer Mids covered in faux fur to Swarovski-encrusted Dunks, the label is a big fan of doing things differently. But, just when you thought it couldn't get weirder, the Cactus Plant Flea Market x Nike Air Flea 2 comes along and officially out-weirds itself.
While CPFM's Air Force 1/Air More Uptempo hybrid seemed pretty strange back in 2019, it doesn't even come close to the Air Flea 2. First teased earlier this summer, Cactus Plant Flea Market usually works on top of pre-existing silhouettes, but this is an all new model that has been designed from the ground up.
Revealed in ‘Black’ and ‘Faded Spruce’ colourways, both trainers feature plush neoprene builds for a comfy sock-like fit. Two massive canvas straps wrap around the upper, and an even more massive Swoosh shoots through the lateral sidewalls in a creamy ‘Alabaster’ shade.
A total of three pull tabs feature across the tongue and heel, and the Air Flea 2 is covered in a series gunmetal steel rivets so you can customise them by adding pins and badges and making your pair truly your own. All of this sits on top of an extra chunky unit that's, essentially, a thiccc version of Nike's classic Waffle midsole. It comes in special packaging that's jammed with a horde of accessories like exclusive laces, custom insoles, and even a fluffy dustbag that's embroidered with a series of graphics. Fun!
Even though Cactus Plant has only been around for eight years, it's flourishing. Ariana Grande, Kanye West, and Kid Cudi are just three of the A-listers who are big fans of the brand, and last year, it collaborated with fast food giant McDonald's for an adult version of the Happy Meal, complete with big toys and and an even bigger box.
The Cactus Plant Flea Market x Nike Air Flea 2 is set to release sometime within the next few months at Nike, the Snkrs app, and select stockists globally. Priced at £180 each, expect this collection to sell out absurdly fast.
