When is the best time to buy a sofa?
There are, of course, sales throughout the year, leading with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, extending into Boxing Day, and often the January sales, too.
What should I consider when buying a sofa?
The most important, and most obvious, thing to consider when buying a sofa is where you are planning to put it. If you live in a large house with a dedicated living room, you might be looking for a grand, three-person affair, but if you live in a smaller apartment then something more modest will fit better with your lifestyle and the space you have to work with. So, measure out the space carefully and compare it to the specs of the sofa: height, depth and width. Consider how many people you want it to seat, too.
Secondly, design is important. Lighter sofas – both in build and colour – suit smaller spaces, so look for something raised off the ground if you want to keep the feel modern and sleek. Heavier sofas are better for bigger rooms and more old-fashioned style; a dark leather sofa can be a beautiful match for detailed Victorian wallpaper or furnishings, for example. In the end, it all depends on your taste and your budget.
