MOTY is back. For the 26th year in a row, GQ's Men of the Year party celebrates and honours the champions who continue to shape the world we live in, from giants of style and politics to acting, music and sporting greats. After mixing things up with a new-look intimate dinner followed by a full-blown party last year, MOTY continues with this new format and promises to be as big and bright as ever.
A stellar list of MOTY honourees, an iconic setting and the party to end all parties are just around the corner. Here's what you need to know ahead of the big night.
Where is GQ MOTY 2023 taking place?
MOTY 2023 will take place in central London, with all the buzzy red carpet coverage available on British GQ’s social media channels.
Who are this year's honourees?
It's a simple brief: honour the changemakers whose talent and creativity have kept us entertained, informed and perched on the edge of our seats this year. Among others, BAFTA-nominated Shakespearean actor Paapa Essiedu makes the list alongside Succession writer Lucy Prebble and Palace co-founders Lev Tanju and Gareth Skewis. Double World Champion heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson is joined by World Cup Final rivals Mary Earps and Jenni Hermoso, and the former BBC interviewer-in-chief and current podcast sovereign Emily Maitlis rubs shoulders with Nigerian rapper-singer-multi-hyphenate Rema. Check out this year's full list of honourees here.
We're revealing our MOTY 2023 cover stars throughout the build-up to the big night, with covers for Jeremy Allen White, Ncuti Gatwa and Boygenius already revealed in all their glory. Check back here each day for another MOTY cover.
Who was in the MOTY class of 2022?
MOTY 2022 continued our resolute tradition of recognising those who have changed the game across global culture. From music royalty in Stormzy and lead of megahit Squid Game Lee Jung-jae, to the groundbreaking stars of Heartstopper and the Lionesses' Captain Fantastic, Leah Williamson, last year's honouree lineup was broader than ever. Check out all the winners from MOTY 2022 (and see what happened on the night) here.
Who's hosting MOTY 2023?
A great host is as important to the night as food, drink and a solid red carpet look, with previous hosts including Stanley Tucci, Michael Sheen and Idris Elba. This year, writer, model and presenter Jack Guinness will continue that fine oratorical tradition as MOTY 2023's dinner MC.
Who's hosting the red carpet?
After last year's supreme performance – and viral moments with the likes of Paul Mescal and Andrew Garfield – it felt only right to bring Amelia Dimoldenberg back to run the 2023 red carpet. “It's a great room to be a part of, it's almost like you're at your dream dinner party,” says Amelia. We're expecting big things from any Dimoldenberg x Jeremy Allen White collab.
Who's performing at MOTY 2023?
South African producer and DJ Black Coffee will bring his style of deep house mixed with kwaito-inspired Afropop and jazz to proceedings. Having collaborated with artists such as Usher and Pharrell Williams, he recently sold out Madison Square Garden and picked up a Grammy for his latest album, Subconsciously.
Joining him on the night will be Flo, the British girl group ushering in a ’90s R&B renaissance with their silky vocals and impeccable harmonies. Flo's nostalgia-laced yet continuously evolving sound makes them one of the most exciting music prospects of this year and beyond.
Will I be able to follow the event on social media?
Absolutely – just make sure you’re following British GQ on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. You can also use the hashtag #GQMOTY to see all the highlights on the night and following the event.
Who are the sponsors of MOTY 2023?
As well as headline sponsors BOSS, British GQ would like to extend thanks to our partners American Express Platinum Card, Jaguar, Virgin Atlantic and Laurent Perrier.
