Margot Robbie hit the streets of New York City earlier this month, and the sweltering summer weather wasn’t the only heat wave in town. The Oscar-nominated Barbie star was spotted in the kind of suave yet laid-back ensemble everyone needs in their back pocket this time of year: a free-flowing, go-anywhere suit paired with a dadly footwear swerve.

Let’s start with the suit. A simple, timeless two-piece in khaki tan by the Australian luxury label Camilla and Marc, its wildly oversized silhouette makes the whole thing feel effortless and modern – put-together enough for meetings at the office, chill enough for drinks at Balthazar afterwards. The black Yankees cap on top might feel like Robbie was pandering to the locals a touch, but what we can say? Classics are classics.

The true stroke of genius here, though, is the footwear: Robbie paired the suit with the New Balance 9060, one of the iconic Boston running shoe brand’s best-looking and most comfortable sneakers. Introduced in 2022, the 9060 has quickly earned its place in the New Balance pantheon, acclaimed for its techno-futuristic waved silhouette and cozy, cloud-like cushioning. In recent years, we've railed against the pairing of suits and sneakers as lazy and uninspired – but we were mainly referring to a very specific combination of stiff business suits with minimalist white kicks. What Margot Robbie's done here, with her flowy, right-now tailoring and supersized runners, is another story entirely – one that we'd wholeheartedly endorse copying at some point this summer.
