Series six of Peaky Blinders will be the end of Peaky Blinders as we know it. But that is, according to its creators, "the end of the beginning", and not the last we'll see of that world and characters.
We already know that the Peaky Blinders story will continue on the big screen. Steven Knight, one of the creators of the series, told Entertainment Weekly that “we're going to end the series as it is at the moment, but we're going to do the movie, which we'll shoot in 18 months' time, maybe a little bit longer.” That's not all, though: there are further plans to make spin-offs that "will be part of the same universe."
Knight didn't clarify exactly what these plans would entail, but there are some clear candidates that definitely have a lot more of their story to tell, with great elements to create new series and projects.
Peaky Blinders revolves mainly around Tommy Shelby, but characters like Alfie Solomons clearly merit further exploration, even taking us back to a time when Tommy (Cillian Murphy) was not yet the stylish crime boss we meet in the series.
Which Peaky Blinders characters could have a spin-off?

Alfie is a fan favourite and it's clear that he has a rich backstory just waiting to be unearthed.
A few years ago, Steven Knight posted audio on the official website called "The Gospel of Alfie Solomons: Part One", where Hardy recites a poem detailing how his character became a gangster, along with his family background.
A spin-off about Alfie Solomons could show just that: the series of events that led to the character getting into the world of crime and eventually running into Tommy Shelby himself. We could see how he created his business and turned it into a front to hide his criminal empire, although, if he survives series six, we might even see what happens to him after he rejoins the Shelbys.
Alfie is a gang leader. He's smart, calculating and dangerous, and it would be interesting to see how he became that man.

The distant, youngest sibling has floated in and out of Shelby business over the years, but has demonstrated both the familial nous and business mind that brother Tommy has himself used to devastating effect. Once married to a known communist, and with a child named after Karl Marx, Ada's role in series six in the light of fascist Oswald Mosley's survival could become more central.
Her activities away from the spotlight of the Shelby family business could make for an interesting spin-off, but a story centred on the astute, independently-minded Ada reviving the family name after the horrors of the Second World War could make for a fascinating show.

Sam Claflin plays Tommy Shelby's greatest enemy: a calculating, brilliant and cruel MP who makes a deal with the Shelbys that doesn't go well at all. Oswald survived an assassination attempt at the end of series five, but he's in for a battle in series six that could be the end of him.
If Oswald dies, there's no chance of a spin-off set in the future, but it could take place in the past, lifting the lid on how he became the deplorable racist who worked his way up the ladder of parliamentary power.
