Black Friday 2024 was a huge event for bargain hunters, but sadly it's over for another year… so, like any sane person, we're looking ahead to 2025! Black Friday 2025 starts on 28 November and ends on Cyber Monday, 1 December. Still a long way off, then. But we at British GQ are here to tell you how to get prepared for the event regardless, including what the biggest sales will be and all the major info you need to make the most out of Black Friday.
Mostly an online affair these days (though you can still find joy in-store if you’re willing to brave the high street), all your favourite retailers take part in the price-slashing fiesta, including Amazon, Nike, Mr Porter, Percival, Reiss and John Lewis, as well as just about every online store you can think of. Keen to get clued up on next year's biggest sale? Read on to find out everything we know about Black Friday 2025.
Taking place the weekend after Thanksgiving, Black Friday shopping always falls within the final weekend of November, so in 2024 it fell on 29 November. As for 2025? The final Friday of the month will be the 28th.
Sales officially begin a minute past midnight on Friday morning and stretch throughout the weekend, before ending at midnight on Monday, which has been affectionately called Cyber Monday. That inevitably means that the sale will bleed into December — though we'll get through all of that further down below.
Still, while it's worth noting those dates down in the diary, we've also seen deals land online almost a month before the sale starts in previous years, with more discounts dropping in the weeks and days leading up to the Friday itself. Our advice? so keep an eye on this page and your favourite retailers so you don't miss out on anything before it “officially” kicks off.
As a safe bet, it's worth signing up for various newsletters of your favourite retailers so you can get ahead of the curve on any upcoming announcements. It's hard to keep track of which retailers will be taking part, when they will be launching their sales, and how big the discounts will be, as many have kicked things off as early as the first weekend of November in years gone by.

Black Friday is the single biggest online shopping event of the year. It's fuelled by retailers slashing prices across thousands of products, meaning it's often when items are at their lowest-ever prices.
While it used to take place across a single day, it's essentially taken over the entire month of November, with massive price drops across all manner of products, from the deals on the best TV and best air fryers to the latest high-tech electric toothbrushes.
It's entirely likely that John Lewis is the first retailer to come to mind when you think of perusing the Black Friday sales. With a huge range of consumer tech and homewares, the John Lewis Black Friday sale is not to be missed. Last year, the retailer offered its customers up to 30 per cent off of clothing and home goods, with significant discounts on white goods and other such treats for the home. In short, it's worth a scroll.
In recent years, we've seen more than 70 per cent off the latest noise-cancelling headphones, the comfiest mattresses dropping by more than half, and major discounts falling on all your fashion wants and needs. And when we say the majority of online retailers take part, we really mean it.
At a glance, participating stores include Amazon, John Lewis, Currys, Argos, Reiss, Simba, Mr Porter, Lovehoney, Uniqlo, Selfridges, Bose, EE and many, many more, though this list covers most product ranges we can think of, bar, perhaps, a deal on a combine harvester (but we wouldn't be surprised if those Black Friday deals exist, too).
Since Black Friday has just finished, we don't need to speculate anymore about what the deals might look like next year. Here's a quickfire guide to what's on offer from the UK's biggest retailers…

The moniker behind one of the busiest sales events of the year has an eminently sensible backstory. Signposting the beginning of the busy Christmas shopping period, Black Friday has evolved considerably since it was popularised back in the '80s. It used to be the time of year when retailers would stop running at a loss and start shifting their profit books from negative-red to positive-black, as they made much of their yearly revenue during the mad rush of the holiday season in the USA. It was also an unwritten gentlemen's agreement between American stores to hold off on advertising Christmas sales until after Thanksgiving, which would be quite literally the first minute of Friday morning.
These days it just means: "Bloody great opportunity to grab some huge discounts on some stuff you want". That might not have the same ring to it, but certainly remains true. Fun fact of the day: Black Friday in Welsh is 'Dydd Gwener y Gwario Gwirion', which translates to 'Silly Spending Friday', so we'll let you decide which one you prefer using.
We mentioned the best Cyber Monday deals 2025 above, and it's still technically a part of the Black Friday sales, closing out the deals before we all return to normality. It was so named as, back at a time when digital shopping wasn't as advanced or normalised as it is today, it was the best time to get deals and discounts online. Black Friday was traditionally a bricks-and-mortar affair and footfall to real-world shops was the key driver for the sales. If you were more of a tech-savvy shopper, you'd find the best deals online on the following Monday.
Of course, we've all got smartphones, tablets and laptops to hunt for deals from the comfort of the sofa, bed or futon (no judgment here), so Cyber Monday is less focused on online sales and more of a ceremonial end to the deals overall these days. If you’re still scrambling to get a Dyson cordless vacuum cleaner or a gaming console to complete your shopping wishlist, the Cyber Monday sale will be your last shot before Christmas.
If it's not quite clear by now, pretty much everything will be discounted throughout the sale, so if you've been saving up for Christmas gifts or just want to get something new for yourself, it's usually the best time.
The likes of Samsung and Currys are usually dropping deals on everything from white goods and kitchen appliances to 4K TVs and tablets, while fashion outlets will be slashing prices on designer T-shirts, trainers, gym gear and accessories throughout.
If you've got a particular item in mind, it's best to keep an eye on the retailer's site over the next few weeks to check if prices start to drop, but the main websites will likely be slammed with promotions so you'll know exactly when the sales begin. If you'd rather have someone else do all that legwork for you, then we've got you covered, as we'll be watching out for deals on everything from grooming electricals, must-have tech items, fashion, home appliances, the best alcohol and a whole lot more.
As we've mentioned above, retailers are not particularly bothered about set times for the Black Friday sales, so the actual sale has pretty much become a month-long deals bonanza. Officially, it begins the weekend after Thanksgiving, but seeing as that's a roaming holiday, it can generally land anywhere in the final week of the month.
Some years, this has meant that the deals have bled over into December, with Cyber Monday rolling over the first few days of the month. However, we can confidently tell you that the deals cease at midnight on Cyber Monday, which will be 1st December 2025. As for when they begin, it's murky waters, as they can start pretty much as soon as November begins.
Now we're getting to the crux of the money-saving matter. Black Friday takes place on the 28th of November in 2025, which means all the sales have kicked off by now and everyone from Nike to Currys is offering some kind of discount across a wide range of products. Does that mean you should dive in as soon as the calendar turns into November and be done with your pre-Christmas shopping? Honestly, we wouldn't be so sure.
From mattresses and duvets to bed frames and bedding, here are the best Black Friday Simba deals worth shopping…
Part of the artificial drama of any Black Friday is the fresh price cuts and additional product drops that get thrown into the mix as an ‘end of sale’ deadline approaches. That means it's often best to wait until Cyber Monday to be sure that you've seen everything that's on offer. Especially if you're willing to be flexible about brand or model when it comes to what you're looking for.
The only caveat we'd apply to this mindset comes with the best Black Friday clothing deals. Since stock is genuinely limited with out-of-season items, you've got to gamble whether it's better to get the product you want now or wait and see if it drops further in price. It's the old ‘bird in the hand’ conundrum, but – as veterans of many a Black Friday – we at GQ would generally advise a patient approach.
Now you've had your complete history lesson on Black Friday, you might be wondering if there's actually a difference between the two days. In all honesty, when talking about price differences and discounts, there isn't any real difference at all.
As we mentioned, Cyber Monday was initially a day catering to those savvy enough to shop on the computer when it wasn't the norm. There would typically be a higher amount of stock available, as it wasn't restricted to local storehouses. Over the years, this has become less of a focus, so we don't see any different prices across the weekend, and whatever price you see on your chosen purchase on Black Friday will likely be the same price on Cyber Monday (if stock lasts).
So how do you actually take advantage of the Black Friday sales? There's no use getting stuck into the sale if you're not sure how to get all the stuff you're hoping to buy, but luckily for you, we consider ourselves super sale experts and we know exactly how to find the best deals at just the right time. Armed with the proper knowledge, you'll be wasting zero time on offers you simply won't care about and can pull the trigger on some fantastic discounts ahead of Christmas. Time to fill up the space beneath the Christmas tree.
First of all, we'd recommend you sign up for our GQ Recommends newsletter, so we can gently guide you to the deals we genuinely care about. We'll be keeping an eye on top offers on gadgets, clothing and home essentials that our shopping editors want to buy themselves. Secondly, we humbly suggest you keep these pages tabbed, so you can access them quickly once the sales start and find out when things are kicking off. Nobody wants to be the slow bird that doesn't catch the worm.
Next, sign up for as many newsletters as you can to the brands you're interested in. Need a new Bose speaker? Get synced up to their emails. Hunting for a new plain white T from Uniqlo? Get that newsletter in your inbox ASAP.
We'd also recommend you make a list of stuff you're keen to purchase ahead of the sale. We know a bit of admin ahead of the sale seems like an unusual task, but it's the best way to avoid distraction and will stop you from simply buying everything you see online that's even a little bit discounted. Aside from that, enjoy yourself. Black Friday only comes around once a year, and no other shopping event ahead of the Christmas shopping season can quite achieve the level of savings that are available to you over a whole month.
