Remember, the Agile journey is about continuous improvement, so be patient and persistent. By fostering a positive and collaborative culture, you can inspire your team to adopt an Agile mindset and reap the benefits.

Let's not worry about how to actually achieve this, especially in organizations steeped in decades of hierarchical and fear-based cultures. It's not like building a genuinely safe environment is a complex, nuanced endeavor. Just declare it, and poof – you have a nurturing Agile paradise.

“Oh we are doing some agile transformation which is a management gimmick. Nothing is going to change in this organization so let’s not be very open about what’s under the cover. The transformation consultants will leave after a few months and we would be back to what we have been doing” Does your organization’s agile transformation sound this way? If yes, I have a sad news to break to you! Your company lacks psychological safety being provided to the employees and they do not feel confident about the future plans. There is a “THEY vs US” mentality which is telling the team that they could be penalized for speaking their mind. Stop this right now – If not – Brace for failure.

Adopting any tools, practices, frameworks are easy vs. adopting a mindset. Getting on a change journey for most people is a "to be or not to be" question. Encouraging people to experiment or gamifying the change experience can help build interest to participate in the change initiatives. Agile mindset can be developed once associates working have independence to take decision. No one can develop it, it has come from within. We need to empower our associates to feel they are the pillar by which organisations are building. Once we have that motivation the agility will start developing. We can’t enforce from outside.

Celebrate learnings of failures. Failure is ok, if you learn from it. So, be open to failure and learnings yourself. Be present in the celebration, hear what they have to say and learn from the circumstances and causes of the failure bu providing the right circumstance for the next time.

Agile routines such as reviews and retros are suitable for this. It is important to take the time to celebrate successes and be proud of what you have achieved as a team. The agile way of working is very intense, and as soon as one sprint is over, the next one begins. So there is no off-season, as in sport, where there is time to work at a lower intensity or to relax. It is therefore important to systematically create space for relaxation and mindfulness in the team for yourself and for everyone else.

When we prioritize individuals over processes and tools, we create closeness. Over time, people learn to rely on each other, to work together, to have an ability to value the team more than the individual. In essence, they learn that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts

Your way first...Let the team decide how they want to work. If things work well and delivery is not impacted, that is the way your team should continue working - agile or not. In case, that way does not work, then think about trying agile with the team and possibly, follow the 'flow' mentioned in this answer.

Don't try to everything at once. Introduce practices gradually and in a way that's usefulll to the team's work. changing mindsets takes time. Be supportive and address any concerns arise.

I am a supporter of managing teams' cognitive load. Agile teams often juggle multiple tasks and projects. Recognising and rewarding behaviors that help minimise cognitive overload can be very effective. For instance, when a team member effectively prioritises work, delegates tasks, or simplifies complex processes, it reduces the cognitive load for the entire team.
