Safety first should not be the slogan, it should be practised in day in and day out. Generally what we try is to bypass the safety culture in view of production pressure. Instead of this if we try to fulfil the production requirements without bypassing the safety protocols it may require extra efforts at first instance but it will be very useful in long run.

This is the best way of engaging employees and harnessing their knowledge. Continuous training for short span always very helpful and it gives time to employees for hands on experience while long sessions may become bookish.

Engaging employees requires top management support. Every employee is always engaging but when he identifies some opportunity for improvement or at risk situations he needs support of management for closing those issues. If he did not get that on time support he looses interest and this is the main reason for dis engagement.

One thing I believe in is always engaging the employees, but with that you have to have the support of management not just for fixing issues the employees see. The support needs to be with the understanding that some production will be slowed while proper training is being done. This training shows the support from safety and management that the employees safety and knowledge will always be number one. Also with proper training that is engaging to employees the knowledge retention is higher and production will benefit from empowered employees.

Safety committee meetings are good platforms to highlight issues. Since MOM is tracked closely, issues will be addressed much quicker this way.
