Aprendemos muito mais com as falhas que com os acertos (só precisamos de uma falha para saber que algo não funciona, precisamos de muitos acertos para saber que algo funciona nos mais diferentes cenários). A equipe deve poder falar abertamente sobre o que não deu certo, registrar o que aprendemos e seguir em frente. Toda falha identificada é uma oportunidade. Ter a mesma falha repetidamente deve ser o cenário onde precisamos “acender a luz vermelha” e analisar se realmente estamos aprendendo algo ou fazendo o mesmo e esperando resultado diferente.

Some new concepts may take a few iterations before working. Let the team see your support and mentor them for their development. You will get a high performance team.

How leaders approach failure is what differentiates ok/adequate leaders from great leaders. In infection prevention, we perform "rapid case reviews" where the healthcare team discusses in a non-punitive way what potential factors led to an infection and how we can do it better the next time. We can do this same type of reflection on our professional failures -- situations which didn't go as well as we would have liked. Identifying the factors can help us avoid those same pitfalls in the future.

The first step is to analyze what the team's demands are and monitor the daily processes. The “factory floor” opens up the opportunity for a deeper look, full of important details that may be going unnoticed. This leadership stance inspires and creates strong bonds with management, which makes managing gaps easier. The second would be to collect data, understand the numbers and reason, if possible. The positive mind is linked to emotional factors and fluctuates according to circumstances. The manager who is involved in the process understands that balancing the pegs makes the execution and the union of time more unified and with chances of engagement.
