There are 2 strategies: 1. From internal: Collect the consumed data and sort it from the highest to the lowest. You can make a list priority and coordinate with other parties internally, for sure, managing stock will be better. Also, simultaneously, you can check the SLA agreement and negotiate with the current vendor to prevent delivery delays. 2. From external: Doing category management and sourcing strategy.

It may be interesting to buy with a pool of customer. It is important to not put the material supplier in a monopoly situation. Some OEM sometimes qualify only one supplier for specials alloys... In this case except strategic stock, it is very difficult to manage a shortage of raw material, because the is nowhere to go except short term market. Ideally, you need to have 2 sources sources qualified possible for any raw material. Remenber : It's always the wheel that squeaks the most that receives the most oil".
