  • Rosewood’s inaugural South American property, opened in 2022, is a stunning urban oasis in Cidade Matarazzo, a complex of preserved early 20th-century buildings now housing chic shops and residences. This hotel features 180 rooms within a historic maternity hospital and a Jean Nouvel-designed tower inspired by the Atlantic Forest, earning it the title of The Best Hotel in South America for the second consecutive year. Led by entrepreneur Alexandre Allard, the hotel boasts a vibrant atmosphere, drawing local and international patrons to its six dining venues and popular spaces like the Le Jardin bar and rooftop infinity pool. In 2024, it introduced a luxurious 12,000-square-foot penthouse suite suitable for eight, complete with a rainforest garden, oversized marble bathtub, and breathtaking city views. The hotel's interiors, designed by Philippe Starck, are complemented by an impressive collection of 450 site-specific artworks created by 57 local artists, showcasing Brazilian culture through sculptures, paintings, and textiles. Notable works include a striking ceiling mural in the jazz bar, Rabo di Galo, crafted by artist Cabelo over 68 hours. Committed to environmental preservation, the hotel shuns single-use plastics and is part of Brazil’s largest upcycling project, utilising 100% locally sourced materials. Its biophilic design promotes biodiversity, reintroducing native flora and fauna from the Atlantic Forest.
