What an incredible day at #CGI2024! Yesterday, we made a bold commitment to transform the textile industry with our Building Circular Systems initiative. The energy and engagement Clinton Global Initiative were nothing short of inspiring, and we’re excited to get to work! Our focus now shifts from the announcement to action. Over the next two years, we’ll be collaborating with industry leaders to recycle 325 tons of textiles, launch a groundbreaking textile mapping tool, and deliver critical educational resources to empower both brands and consumers to make more sustainable choices. The support from our partners and others has been overwhelming. Together, we’re ready to redefine what’s possible in the world of #circularfashion and create a future where waste is minimized and materials are continuously repurposed. Stay tuned as we embark on this journey to drive lasting change. 🌱 #CGI2024 #AcceleratingCircularity #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #FashionInnovation #CommitmentToAction #ClimateAction

Do chemically recycled textiles have a lower environmental impact than virgin materials? ♻️ The answer depends on scaling. Until industrial facilities are operating at full capacity, LCAs can only provide directional impact measurements. At ACTR, our members are committed to proving that textile-to-textile recycling can outperform virgin materials, using agreed-upon LCA parameters for transparency and accuracy. But for LCAs to be truly relevant, they need to measure the same categories, and we believe some key factors (like the physical presence of used textiles) are still missing. Introducing the Wrangler x Accelerating Circularity jeans, a result of our U.S. textile-to-textile recycling trials. These innovative jeans, made with 26% recycled cotton (a 50/50 blend of post-consumer and post-industrial fibers), highlight the potential of circular systems at scale. Through our trials, 23 tons each of post-consumer and post-industrial cotton were recycled to show how used textiles can be transformed into valuable raw materials. ✅ Fabrication: 73% Virgin Cotton 26% Recycled Cotton 1% Elastane This collaboration proves that circularity isn’t just a goal, it’s a reality. 💡 Learn more about the jean here: https://lnkd.in/e4qjNMR4
