FastCo Most Innovative + Certified B Corp + Earthshot Prize Finalist 🌍 Protecting the planet from the cost of clothing

About us

2023 Earthshot Prize Finalist on a mission to protect the planet from the cost of clothing. At Circ, we’ve created a technology system that returns clothes to the raw materials from which they were made. Again and again. Brand partners like Patagonia, Marubeni, and Fashion For Good are joining us in our goal of turning wasteful fashion lines into renewable fashion circles. By 2030, we expect to have recycled 10 billion garments, represent 10% of the global apparel market, and to have saved more than 100 million trees. As our ecology and economy grow evermore entwined, it is clear to us that the world already has all the clothing it needs to create all the clothing it will ever need. Join us in threading together the future of circular fashion and eliminating our collective fashion footprint.

At Circ®, we’ve always known that wide-scale change requires wide-scale action. To that end, in the last few years, we’ve partnered with brands like #ZARA and Mara Hoffman to help bring our recycled fibers to people around the world.   Ultimately, though, in order to drive brands' next-gen material uptake, the supply chain that services them must be equipped. We’re expanding the reach of our materials by partnering with members of the fashion supply chain — to create even wider-scale opportunities for circular change.   Introducing: Circ®-Ready. This select community is made up of various industry partners who are committed to operationalizing the use of Circ®’s recycled materials. Circ®-Ready partners not only know the value of Circ’s regenerated fibers, but also know how to use and work with them — helping brands achieve their visions and playing an integral part in threading together the future of circular fashion.   The inaugural Circ®-Ready partners include Artistic Garment Industries (AGI Denim), Foshan Chicley Textile Co., Ltd., Giotex, Marubeni Corporation, MAS Holdings, PYRATEX®, Selenis Specialty Polyester Solutions, SHINJINTEX, Soorty Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. Denimkind, Tainan Spinning Co., Ltd., and Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI). Learn more about Circ®-Ready and our partners, here: https://lnkd.in/gNggTfnA

Yesterday we headed to the Breakthrough Energy Summit and caught up with Bill Gates to discuss the progress of two #EarthshotPrize Finalists: 44.01 and Circ®. We're proud to have Breakthrough Energy as a Founding Partner of the #EarthshotPrize. "Together with the support of The Earthshot Prize and Breakthrough Energy, environmental solutions like Circ’s recycled fabrics, 44.01’s natural carbon capture technology, and Takachar’s mobile bioreactors are all on a fast track to deliver real impact around the world." - Prince William, Breakthrough Energy Summit. #LCAW2024

Our CEO, Peter Majeranowski, and CBO, Luke Henning, kicked things off by reuniting with our fellow 2023 #EarthshotPrize finalists at a wonderful Welcome Dinner and are looking forward to a week full of opportunities to connect and talk with others about how we can all speed to scale. #LCAW2024

I’m proud to share that we just launched our Circ®-Ready community, a vibrant group of like-minded supply-chain partners at every node, from fiber to yarns, fabrics to final garments, all working with Circ’s materials. Our Circ®-Ready partners are forward-thinking pioneers eager to collaborate with next-generation technologies to protect the planet from the cost of clothing. This community is dedicated to creating an "easy button" for brands that want to make clothing from old clothes rather than natural resources. The inaugural Circ®-Ready partners include Artistic Garment Industries (AGI Denim), Foshan Chicley Textiles Co., Ltd., Giotex, Marubeni Corporation, MAS Holdings, PYRATEX®, Selenis Specialty Polyester Solutions, SHINJINTEX, Soorty Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. Denimkind, Tainan Spinning Co., Ltd., and (TTRI) Taiwan Textile Research Institute. These partners are transforming our recycled pulp and monomers into high-quality products, helping brands achieve their sustainability goals and shaping the future of circular fashion. Being Circ®-Ready offers significant advantages. With increasing regulatory demands in the EU and U.S., our partners are ahead of the curve, ready to meet the highest sustainability standards. This collaboration provides a competitive edge in a market where the demand for sustainable products is rapidly growing. Our partners gain early access to innovative materials, receive specialized support from our technical experts, and have opportunities to collaborate on groundbreaking projects with leading global brands. This isn’t just beneficial for the planet—it’s a game-changer for business. We launched Circ®-Ready because transforming the #fashionindustry requires change across the *whole* supply chain, not just brands. This exclusive community is intended to help partners across the supply chain become experts at not only using Circ®’s recycled fibers, but also experts in creating high-quality fashion products from them, as well. As brands and retailers are being asked, more and more, to choose sustainable means of fashion, these manufacturing partners are proactively making the choice to operationalize the use of Circ’s recycled material — helping us make even more comprehensive progress toward a more #circularfashion economy. Circ®-Ready partners include Artistic Garment Industries (AGI Denim), Foshan Chicley Textile Co., Ltd., Giotex, Marubeni Corporation, MAS Holdings, PYRATEX®, Selenis Specialty Polyester Solutions, SHINJINTEX, Soorty Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. Denimkind, Tainan Spinning Co., Ltd., and Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI). Learn more about Circ®-Ready here: https://lnkd.in/gNggTfnA

What's next for Circ®? Where to from here? I’m excited to share what’s on the horizon for Circ. Our innovative technology transforms polycotton waste back into its original raw materials using a unique hydrothermal process that separates polyester and cotton fibers. This breakthrough allows us to recycle old clothes into new materials, ready for the next fashion cycle. After operating our pilot plant for over three years to improve and optimize our process, we’re in the advanced stages of planning a new large-scale facility that will eventually increase our production capacity. This facility will set us apart and is a crucial step in scaling our impact and meeting the growing demand for sustainable materials. Our team is expanding and working hard to bring this vision to life. It’s been an incredible year of progress and innovation. The industry is recognizing the importance of genuine sustainability, and we’re proud to be leading this charge. We’re continuously innovating, collaborating with forward-thinking brands, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. As we continue to grow, our commitment remains steadfast: protecting the planet from the cost of clothing. We’re focused on creating scalable solutions that make a real difference. The future looks promising, and we’re excited about the role we’re playing in driving the industry towards a more sustainable future.

We're proud to announce that Selenis Specialty Polyester Solutions has produced recycled PET chips from terephthalic acid, provided by us at Circ®! Using inputs recovered from polycotton textile waste, the PET chip has been transformed into DTY yarn and will be used in product development as Circ® builds additional capsule launches. A quick translation for those who don’t live and breathe all this science-stuff like we do: #Selenis was able to create polyester chips from recycled material that we provided them with, and then, other partners subsequently turned it into fiber and yarn. When people think #fashion, their minds often go straight to brands. But shifting the fashion industry toward #circularity will take collaboration with the supply chain and will take committed partners, like Selenis. Partners who dedicate the time, energy, and effort to iterate on recycled alternatives. This collaborative effort with Selenis, and these results, signals a major step toward an offtake partnership that will support Circ's very first industrial facility. We couldn't be more excited to have Selenis working alongside us on this circularity journey! Read more: https://lnkd.in/eVdmMDdg
