Airspace Change Organising Group (ACOG)
Airlines and Aviation
We are responsible for coordinating the delivery of the national programme of airspace change across the UK.
About us
The Airspace Change Organising Group (ACOG) was set up in 2019 at the direction of the Secretary of State for Transport (DfT) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to coordinate the delivery of key aspects of the Government’s Airspace Modernisation Strategy, namely the national programme of airspace change. The programme requires the UK's main airports to redesign their airspace below 7000ft and for NATS, the UK’s main air traffic control provider, to modernise the network that sits above, which is known as en-route airspace. ACOG’s role is to help ensure that the proposed changes fit together seamlessly and enable an effective, efficient and sustainable airspace infrastructure for the future. NATS latest Responsible Business Report highlighted the impact airspace modernisation can have on reducing emissions. The Operational Service Enhancements Project, which delivers small-scale airspace changes, has achieved impressive CO2 savings, cutting nearly 33,000 tonnes annually since 2021. This is equivalent to the emissions from the energy usage of over 9,300 homes each year!✈️🏡
