About us

ADOPT-IPM is an EU-China joint action set up by a total of 32 partners from EU Member States, as well as from China and the United Kingdom, including research institutes, universities, small enterprises and extension services. The project is funded under the Horizon Europe framework programme for a period of four years (December 2022-November 2026). ADOPT-IPM aims at the development, optimisation and implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) tools and packages, and ultimately at the reduction of the dependency of farmers on conventional chemical pesticides in the EU Member States, China, and associated countries.

  • Benjamin Gard from the CTIFL is organising a field day tomorrow in Balandran (FR) on lettuces to demonstrate the results of a trial on novel IPM techniques. The CTIFL tested two ADOPT-IPM innovations: (1) a biological control botanical strategy through lettuce a mass release of eggs of the predator Chrysoperla lucasina using the PULZOR device developed by the partner IFTECH, and (2) the combination of this lever (C. lucasina eggs) with the use of flower strips alongside of the tunnel to enhance the presence of natural enemies of aphids. Flower strips were composed of the following species: Calendula officinalis, Lobularia maritima, Achillea millefolium, Secale cereale, and Hordeum vulgare. Those strategies were compared to a conventional strategy used by growers in France which is the application of spirotetramat (MOVENTO) an effective insecticide to control aphids. The field day conclusions and pictures to come soon !

  • 🌱 Over 110 participants joined the Integrated Crop Management (ICM) field day at Wageningen University & Research in Lelystad on September 5th. Attendees learned about sustainable crop management practices that reduce chemical use, with a focus on key crops and pests. The ICM approach, similar to IPM, centers around crop diversity, soil health, targeted control, and monitoring for better farm profitability. This event, part of the ADOPT-IPM project, highlights the future of arable farming with a focus on economic viability in the short and long term.
