Maximo is our AI-powered robot that significantly speeds up solar farm deployment, doubling the installation rate. With solar panel installations predicted to triple in the next decade, Maximo is a true partner in the field. 📈 Currently, the U.S. installs about 15,000 modules per hour, but to meet future demand, we need to reach upwards of 50,000 per hour by 2035. Working with partners like fuseproject, we designed Maximo for seamless integration, scalability, and human-friendly interaction. Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome Secretary Rubio to our Colón LNG facility in Panama. AES has been a long-standing energy partner in the Caribbean and Central America. With the region’s largest LNG portfolio, our terminals have played a key role in diversifying the energy mix and delivering reliability to the energy system. We are also the leading importer of U.S. LNG in the region, exceeding $1 billion annually. During his visit, Secretary Rubio toured the modern facilities of Panama’s first LNG import terminal, which includes an LNG storage and regasification facility and a 381 MW gas-fired power plant. The addition of LNG has been instrumental in bringing new energy sources to the grid mix, integrating new technology, and delivering reliability to the market. Looking ahead, we see a bright future in continuing to strengthen and expand energy solutions for this vital region.

Our "friend to the field" solar robot Maximo was spotlighted in a recent article in Solar Power World for our innovative approach to utility-scale solar projects. With solar additions expected to triple by 2035, scale and speed will be critical to meet growing demand. Maximo is a true partner to solar construction crews, using artificial intelligence to automate the heavy lifting of solar panels. Working alongside field teams, it can accelerate installation, reducing time-to-power for customers. Maximo founder Deise Yumi Asami emphasizes, “I think there’s great opportunity for adopting robotics in general, but I also feel like the overarching autonomous vehicles and platforms can help a lot with staging of the parts throughout the whole site.
