Diarmuid Torney from Dublin City University reiterates the urgency of the climate crisis, he urges us to take action but to do so in a fair and inclusive manner while also highlighting the importance of #Philanthropy. As Ireland's philanthropic hub, we support communities, advocacy groups but more than that, we also invest in research to ensure that we are tackling this crisis with hard evidence to bring about the necessary change that we all so desire. It's fantastic to see the launch of this beautiful new open access book, now available to download here: https://lnkd.in/exFbRREz The All Island Climate & Biodiversity Research Network was lucky to hear from Catherine Dalton about the book's development at a members' meeting in June of this year. The book took inspiration from #AICBRN’s ethos of cross-disciplinary collaboration, and it was wonderful for our members to hear about such a wide ranging exploration of lakes and loughs across the island! We’re really looking forward to reading it 🤩 Huge congratulations to our Co-Chair Catherine Dalton, to Eleanor Jennings, Elvira de Eyto, and all involved! The book features 22 chapters, co-authored by 52 contributors. It brings together an in-depth exploration of Ireland’s lakes in terms of their history, geography, science and the growing threats they face. #climate #biodiversity #collaboration
