About us

Airlink is a global humanitarian organization delivering critical aid to communities in crisis by providing free airlift and logistical solutions to nonprofit partners, changing the way the humanitarian community responds to disasters around the world. Airlink's network includes more than 200 aid organizations and nearly 50 air carrier and logistics partners worldwide. Its first mission was the response to the Haiti earthquake in 2010. Since its inception, Airlink’s airline partners have provided over 11,000 flights for relief workers and transported nearly 12,000,000 pounds of humanitarian cargo, saving nonprofits nearly $33 million in air transport costs and directly helping at least 46 million people. This is made possible through the expertise of Airlink's team, in-kind airlift from commercial airlines, and donations from organizations and individuals within the aviation sector and beyond.

This morning, I spoke at NIH Clinical Center (CC) for their Combined Federal Campaign of the Mid-Atlantic Area event on Giving Tuesday. It was a pleasure to meet so many doctors, nurses, and clinical researchers dedicated to helping others -- just like us at Airlink, Inc.. Most -- over 92% -- of the humanitarian aid Airlink has helped transport to over 52 countries with 200+ NGO partners in 2024 has been health system support. We are acutely aware of how healthcare-related charities offer life-saving assistance during disasters; our mission is to get them in the air. We help reduce overhead transport costs and sort travel and transport logistics so charity partners can focus on what they do best: providing care to those in need. This is our first year being part of the CFC! We are excited to invite Federal employees and retirees to pledge a gift through payroll or annuity this year to Airlink. Unrestricted funds donated through the CFC will help us respond faster to disasters -- no matter their scale or where they happen. We can prepare for the unexpected thanks to your generosity. Watch our video and pledge today through the CFC (#77645) right here: https://lnkd.in/em6mzW7d Thank you to NIH for giving us the stage to share about us -- and for the tasty chili cook-off samples!

What do all 5 of these trucks have in common? They're full of sterile surgical gowns generously donated by our partner, The University of Vermont Medical Center, that are now on their way to Gaza! This shipment valued at over $700,000 would not be possible without the partnership of Airlink, Inc., who ensures this humanitarian aid gets to the right place at the right time. More details about this shipment coming soon!

  • Airlink is proud to be featured in Logistics Update Africa for tackling the growing challenges in humanitarian logistics, especially when it comes to reaching underfunded and overlooked emergencies in 2024. This article highlights how Airlink is overcoming funding constraints for aid transportation, navigating complex emergencies driven by conflict, and managing limited commercial airlift capacity with creative solutions. By leveraging our strong airline partner network, we are ensuring that critical supplies—over half sent in 2024 were health-specific—reach those in need, even in the most difficult crisis zones, on behalf of our NGO partners. "In Sub-Saharan Africa, Airlink’s regional response capabilities are driven by our dedicated #airline partner network including Astral Aviation Ltd, Royal Air Maroc, Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways," says Airlink's Director of Humanitarian Programs, Stephanie Steege. • On #WorldChildrensDay, we reflect on the imperative importance of supporting the most vulnerable among us. Children, especially those facing hunger and malnutrition, are among the most affected by disasters. In Afghanistan, nearly three out of ten children are experiencing crisis or emergency levels of hunger. Airlink is proud to partner with GlobalMedic (David McAntony Gibson Foundation) and the Bayat Foundation to transport 900 Family Emergency Kits (FEKs) and 35 pallets of MannaPack® Potato-W Fortified Potato and Soy Protein Meal, a weaning food designed to meet the nutritional requirements for children aged 7-12 months. This aid is being delivered directly to displacement camps in Kabul, where it will support the most vulnerable children and families. GlobalMedic's FEKs include essential items such as a water purification unit, solar lights, and basic hygiene supplies—all crucial as winter approaches and there are increasing health risks. ✈️ Together, we've provided 900 families with necessary support. A single box of formula can sustain an infant for approximately 2.5 months, vital for providing necessary nutrition for safe growth and development. 💬 One mother, Wazhma, whom the Bayat Foundation spoke with, shared: "All of my children are hungry now but my youngest is most at risk since there is not enough food or any vitamins for him and he is so young and weak. This formula gift and water filter will help me feed him during the cold winter months ahead. Thank you." 💬 Mariam Bayat, Director of the Bayat Foundation, added: "Infant formula is difficult to obtain in Afghanistan, and very expensive. Therefore, we are most grateful for Airlink's generous support to airlift this life-saving infant formula into Afghanistan so that we were able to provide newborns and young infants with essential nutrition and clean water to a future generation who would otherwise be at critical risk of long-term developmental challenges from lack of early childhood nutrition." On World Children's Day—and every day—we must remember the importance of supporting children like Wazhma’s youngest, whose future depends on the nutrition and care we provide today. 🌍💙 #Afghanistan #HumanitarianAid #LifeSavingSupport #ChildNutrition

Airlink - Humanitarian Aid Logistics | Heritage and history guide | Experienced campaigner and advocate | Storyteller

Listen deeply. Act boldly. Be in the service of those in need. We have a spiritual calling to support communities in crisis. With these words from Eunice Wotene, Oxfam's Executive Director and host of the first FALE Pacific AGM, the gathering got off the ground in Port Moresby. It’s part of PIANGO - the Pacific Islands Association of NGOs - a regional platform of National Umbrella NGOs known as National Liaison Units present in 24 Countries and Territories in the Pacific. I sit as Airlink, Inc. ‘s representative on the steering committee of FALE Pacific as the alternate representative of international NGOs. We heard the impassioned words of Emeline Siale Ilolahia, PIANGO's Executive Director, that climate change is threatening not just lives and property in the Pacific Islands but the very fabric of communities that also threaten their cultures. Cultures - plural - because we all acknowledge the incredible diversity of a region spanning multiple archipelagos of island dwellers with myriad languages and cultural practices. A region subject to seasonal and powerful cyclones, devastating earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis. We spent the first day discussing how to place people and not processes at the heart of humanitarian responses when communities are already traumatised. Without money, communities can still be resilient and respond and try to overcome with limited local resources. But without the heart and spirit of the people, no money in the world can address the effects of disasters. When Vanuatu saw 80% of its population devastated by three cyclones and one earthquake last year; when Tonga lost contact with the world for four weeks after the historic submarine volcanic eruption of Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha'apai in January 2022; when floods destroyed local villages in Fiji, Samoa and Papua New Guinea but were not declared disasters - the first responders were the very victims of these disasters. PIANGO was formed to solve one key problem: that the current humanitarian system is slow to respond to disasters. The first respondents to disaster are the affected people themselves but they are not empowered nor given the resources to build their resilience and draw on their traditional knowledge to adapt and find solutions to sustainable recovery. The voices of civil society organisations – so key to effective recovery – are not being heard at the policy level and incorporated into response mechanisms. As Sesimani Lokotui of FALE Tonga said, this vaka (vessel) has been sailing for so long, and with collaboration among the actors in the humanitarian field, let us see where the vaka leads us all. We have a whole week of listening and learning ahead of us. Together we are learning how to steer this vaka and learn to read the winds and the tides that carry her. #humanitarianaid #logistics #disasterresponse
