Welcome Richard Hsu to our Ambassador Council! We’re grateful for the perspective and expertise he brings to the council as a retired lawyer and the host and producer of a two-time award-winning podcast, “Hsu Untied.” Richard supports the Alliance because, “As a former lawyer who spent his career advising clients on managing legal and business risks, I firmly believe it is never too early to teach—and learn—the skill of making decisions amidst risk and uncertainty.” https://lnkd.in/eytwPPKx

Better decisions lead to better lives and a better society.
About us
The Alliance for Decision Education (the Alliance) is a national nonprofit and field builder with the mission of improving lives by empowering students with essential skills and dispositions for making better decisions. Founded in 2014 and backed by experts in decision sciences and a broad range of other fields—including several Nobel laureates—the Alliance believes that better decisions lead to better lives and a better society. As a field builder, the Alliance aligns, coordinates, and amplifies the efforts of organizations and individuals working toward the vision of Decision Education being part of every student’s learning experience. We partner with teachers, researchers, academic and business leaders, families, and community members to raise awareness and develop solutions that can be scaled in classrooms across the country.

We were delighted to read this Education Week article about a course on digital civic inquiry being taught to 8th grade students in Washington, D.C.! In our digital age, it’s crucial for students to learn and practice Decision Education skills, such as evaluating information and sources. We’re grateful to have Sarah McGrew, who helped create the course, on the Alliance Education Advisory Council! Explaining the need for coursework like this, Sarah told us, “This work is important to me because it will help us understand possibilities for embedding lessons on how to decide what to trust online within a larger process of civic inquiry. Students need to be prepared to learn about, discuss, and take action on social issues, and there is decision-making involved in each stage of that process.” Check out the whole article to learn more about the skills students in D.C. are learning to help them critically analyze information online! https://lnkd.in/eBSxEDXn
