All Raise was a fantastic event. My favorite part was connecting and re-connecting with so many of our investing partners.
For anyone who still has their doubts, I can confirm: venture does not have a pipeline problem. I recently had the opportunity to join hundreds of senior women investors from across the venture capital community for the annual All Raise summit. Being in rooms like these that are filled with brilliant investors – who happen to be women – is a powerful reminder that the stats that plague our industry are tired and long-overdue to change: 2% of venture dollars invested in all-female founded teams; 3% of AUM raised to female fund managers. Does anyone think women only have 2-3% of the good ideas?!? Who gets funded matters. Funding is an important factor in helping brilliant ideas break through. I was energized by the conversations I participated in at AllRaise and look forward to more collaboration and co-investments with this community. Rent the Runway hit 15 years old last month. At the helm of the business still is CEO Jenn Hyman, who cofounded the clothing rental service when she was a 27-year-old business school student. https://lnkd.in/e9craCzR Hyman has seen Rent the Runway through its highs—like the late 2010s, when its unlimited subscription service had started to become ubiquitous in certain markets—and its lows, like the cratering of its business during COVID shortly thereafter. In the years since, Rent the Runway has struggled, and a true attempt at a turnaround is still in its early days. Through it all, Hyman has asked herself two questions to determine if she should remain at the helm of the business: Is she tired?
