ANSI serves as the administrator and coordinator of the U.S. private sector voluntary standardization system.
About us
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) coordinates the development and use of voluntary consensus standards in the United States and represents the needs and views of U.S. stakeholders in standardization forums around the globe. ANSI oversees the creation, promulgation and use of thousands of international norms and guidelines that directly impact businesses in nearly every sector: from acoustical devices to construction equipment, from dairy and livestock production to energy distribution, and many more. The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) is actively engaged in accrediting programs that assess conformance to standards—including globally-recognized cross-sector programs such as ISO 9000 (quality) and ISO/IEC 17025 (testing and calibration laboratories) management systems.

Why do we have Daylight Saving Time? DST is the practice of setting clocks one hour ahead of standard time to take advantage of more sunlight during spring, summer, and fall evenings. ⏰☀️ In 1908, the residents of Port Arthur, Ontario were the first to use DST. The idea did not catch on globally until Germany implemented DST in 1916, two years into World War I. This was an attempt to minimize the use of artificial lighting to save fuel for the war effort. Within a few weeks, many other countries followed suit, but most of them reverted back to standard time after the war. Thanks to the Uniform Time Act of 1966, we have to remember that Daylight Saving Time starts on Sunday, and we spring forward one hour. IEC 60335-2-26 Ed. 5.0 b:2024 sets safety requirements for electric clocks like alarm clocks. https://lnkd.in/eqdtp8_B #daylightsavingtime #dst #sunlight #clocks #alarmclocks #springforward #ansi
