The Appalachian College Association funds prestigious research opportunities for students at member institutions across the region, and Maryville College is home to two of them! @Hannah Phillips '25 and Jaklyn Rutter '25 are studying "brain-eating amoebae" and hops used in the beer-brewing process, respectively, and they're just two examples of how our Scots Science Scholars and students in the Maryville College Division of Natural Sciences continue to demonstrate that our STEM programs are strong ones indeed.

I had the privilege to lead a session for college/university presidents, provosts, and Vice Presidents for student affairs at the Appalachian College Association Meeting this week! Following the session, a president asked me for recommendations for a common read.
